After 6 months of research, finding out if I would have a job at the end of the year, and having all my finances and credit in order, I finally got my dream car. I picked her up yesterday, brand new with 200 miles (these were the miles just bringing it from around the South Atlanta area to Savannah.) I cannot even describe the feeling I have driving this car. I have been in love with the Shelby GT500s since I was a teenager, and made a promise long ago to myself that one day I would own one. It just so happened that the design with the 2010 struck me just as hard as the '67 and '68 did. These two pic I took with my phone when I picked her up yesterday. I will get some more pics up later this weekend. You can also check out my EP3 at http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?52596-BlownSi05-My-Taffy-White-EP&highlight=. I have updated it since the.....downtime....hehe:mbiggrin:

Edit: Well I got my build numbers and my Certificate of Authenticity from Shelby/Ford.

Built 21 December 2009
#3353 of 3545 Coupes for 2010
#358 of 384 in Performance White for 2010

I don't know which number it is for the White w/ Silver combination, but I know that there were only 60 total cars made in white w/ silver stripes, so apparently I have a very rare car....lol. This made me very happy.

Engine
When the Shelby GT500 moniker returned to the Ford Mustang in 2007 with 500 horsepower, it was the most powerful production Mustang ever sold, and the 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 builds on that. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500's 5.4L Dual Over Head Camshaft V8 makes use of a similar supercharger and intercooler setup as the 2009 models which made 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. However, using tuning adjustments that Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) developed when building the 2008 GT500 King of the Road, the 2010 GT500 makes a whopping 540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission and Differential
The same 6-speed manual transmission from 2009 is used in the 2010 Mustang Shelby GT500. Gears 1-4 have retained the same ratios but in an effort to improve the overall fuel economy of the GT500, the fifth gear has been changed from 0.80 to 0.74 and sixth gear has gone from 0.63 to 0.50. This allows the engine to run at lower RPMs at highway speeds, thus using less fuel when cruising. The new lower 5th and 6th gears have also allowed SVT to equip the 2010 GT500 with a 3.55 rear differential ratio, so the GT500 will have greater bottom end acceleration without hurting the fuel economy. The twin-disc clutch has been greatly improved to handle the extra 40 horsepowerby increasing the disc size from 215mm to 250mm. The fiberglass and copper construction makes them more durable than the standard Mustang clutch. The 2010 GT500 is also the first Mustang to offer standard 19" wheels, and the SVT-forged aluminum rims are wrapped in Goodyear F1 Supercar tires designed specifically for the 2010 Mustang Shelby GT500.

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Drivetrain Specifications:
• Engine: 5.4L (5,411cc) 330 cu in. V8, Dual Over Head Camshafts, 4 Valves per Cylinder

lol....thanks! I will say there is some luck the way everything came together. The stars were aligned correctly for me I guess.:mangel:

I opened the hood to the EP today when I was cleaning it up, and almost laughed at the size difference in the blowers. I knew it was smaller, but seeing them side by side was an eye opener....hahah:meek:

Thanks everyone! Car is going on the dyno tomorrow for a baseline run to see where it is at. This will just be my baseline so if and when I decide to put a different pulley on and get a tune I can see what the gains are.:mtongue:

BlownSi05

Put the car on the dyno today. Something weird was going on cause the car was cutting at 5000 RPM. I think that the load wasn't set on the dyno, and the owner of the shop, who is a carb guy and doesn't do well with newer stuff was doing it. What was funny was the numbers. So at 5000 RPM (redline on the car is 6200 mind you) I was at 410whp. The funny part was the fact that my peak torque at around 4300RPM was 478wtq:meek::mtongue: Based on other dyno plots I have researched, this should put my peak hp at roughly 500whp! Whether or not you use the typical 15% drive train loss calculation or the 12% usually used for newer cars, the power listed from Ford at 540hp 510tq is definitely under-rated. I think I definitely got my money's worth...hahah

I am going to get it on a dyno at a shop just over the boarder in SC just to check it and make sure. I want to have a solid baseline to work from when I eventually do a pulley upgrade and tune.

Then tell me what exactly what changes after the 500 miles or 50 key turns break in...lol. My salesperson was awesome and a really great guy, but he kept trying to tell me that the supercharger didn't kick in until then, which I know isn't the case. I could feel a difference in the car after my first key turn past 500 miles, so I was assuming maybe the ECU retards the timing some and puts some restrictions on the drive-by-wire when you downshift hard. I would really appreciate an answer on this just to know exactly what it is...hehe. Thanks man!

Two new pics up. We were doing the shoot out at Hutchinson Island here in Savannah and apparently the Air Force was running some sort of homeland security exercise. Shortly after these photos were taken we were escorted back out and detained for 30 minutes to wait for the police. We weren't in trouble or anything and the cops never showed so they let us go. They were not assholes at all...lol. Anyway, the shoot is rescheduled for next week, and we have a model that is going to pose with the car!:mtongue: More pics to come!

haha yeah I know. Saw a vid of a 2008 with it on there. Made 967whp/830ish wtq @ 24psi. Just nasty! I am going to do a smaller pulley and tune in a few years once the warranty is out. Just those two things will put me up to 620-630 whp:mtongue: Right now I am enjoying it just being right at the ~500whp it already comes with...lol.

Thanks for all the comments folks! I can't even describe how much I love driving this car. Once I get my EP cleaned up, I am going to have the same guy do some photos of it. Probably within the next two to three weeks.

So where is this other dyno you referred to "just over the border in SC"? Is there one in Aiken? I currently live in Columbia and work in Augusta, it would be nice to know of one around here.

Oh, nice looking Stang!

There is a Ford/Mopar specialty shop in Bluffton called Unique Tuning LLC. Supposed to be pretty good, but I am fairly certain he knows nothing really about imports. I remember there was a shop/tuner in Augusta but can't remember who it was. There is also a decent tuner in Charleston. They just tuned a K20/K24 Frank N/A setup and got ~254whp/~200-220wtq out of it. Can't remember the numbers exactly I just talked to the owner of the car this past weekend for a short time.

Ahh, I see. Thanks. I think my blue oval days are over with unless I can find a descent mid 80's F-150 for a parts getter/home crap/beater vehicle...
One of my friends has been to the one in Charleston with some of his HT buddies... forgot about that one. Those are some great numbers!

SO had the car in for a Service Bulletin repair on the front suspension which was making a shit ton of groaning and creaking noise. The service department put a 4" vertical dent in my driver's side door right across the stripes.:meek::mfrown: Needless to say they are shitting bricks right now working to fix what they messed up. Best case scenario is a paint-less removal, which I will find out tomorrow. I have these guys scared as hell right now. We will see what the guy says tomorrow...
