Okay, im going to be taking out my 04 Civic SI tranny because i think that my inputshaft(mainshaft) bearing is screwed up. It makes noise when the clutch is engaged(pedal out) but the noise goes away when the cluch is disengaged (pedal in). sooooooooo.. my car is not under warranty, I just replaced my Clutch with a clutch masters stage 4 one and a new throwout bearing was installed. im willing to go out and buy the parts to do it, i just dont want to pay $$$$ to have someone else do it, i might as well just buy the tools and figure it out myself.

Need help all hatch members.

i had this same issue in january. are you having any drivability issues? is it a LOUD noise or more of a quiet noise?
in my case i had broken 3 teeth off of second gear. prepare for the worst bud.

Just buy the actual gear you need. You need to by it for the main shaft and I would also replace the same gear on the counter-shaft as well. My friend's fourth gear in his RSX-S completely desintergrated on him. We pulled the tranny apart, pulled the gears off the shaft, put the new ones in for forth(we also replaced his second gear), put it back together and it has been fine since. I think it only costs him a couple hundred bucks, not much at all considering.

well from what ive been told is that you can only buy the whole gear set. and the price for your trans is about the same as a used 1 from a wrecking yard. i don't know if your skills are up to par to put the trans back together. but if you feel you are tackle that bish and while you are at get the upgraded syncros and never worry about a gring again.. i only went with a new trans because i had a month's worth of headache with my transmissions(i bought an ep3 case with fg2 internals and b4 i ripped the trans out i thought it was my clutch. i pulled the transmission out of the car 7 times in month).

but yeah sucks to hear about your issue

I just dropped it off at a shop they are giving me a full list of the issues.

it will probably be a lengthy list. what were the other issues that you noticed?

Nothing other then that..... The car went into Honda on December 15, 2006 and got all new gears syncros and bearings in first, second and third. since then it has only grinded on me twice if that.

Yea so the shop just look at the stock trans and is telling me that it need $1500 dollars in parts and about 5-6 hours of labor witch will be another $550 dollars. I dont think it's worth that much to rebuild. What do you guys think?

i would call a local honda wrecking yard and see how much you could get a new trans for. i got my 5 spd for 500 with a 6 month warranty. i wouldve gotten the 6 spd but that was $1000 and that was way out of my budget.

You can sell your stock case for about 200-250 dollars. so that might help you.

For that kind of money you can get a almost new trans fro a salvage yard.

Or a professionally rebuilt 6spd http://shop.synchrotech-transmissions.com/Acura-RSX-Type-S-2002-2004-R0204-439.htm
