Strife

I bet it'd not that bad if you actually have the strut bar to see the real clearance issues. If people can tuck engine bays, then I bet this could be done easier than thought.

its not necessary to tuck bay or to "relocate" resevoirs per se
I had it on my ep but took it off because I now have the hotchkis camber plates and have no room for the strut bar

This Man knows what he is saying, that is exactly what i did
It definitely will not look as clean as if you were to relocate the brake and clutch resevior but it works

To fit the bar you will also have to do something with the AC hardline on the passeneger shock tower. Its 100% in the way.

True that. i got a authentic strut tower bar in the mail last week, im going to see what i can do with it, and if it looks like something ill have time to do im going to go for it. if not, shit will be up for grabs.

All I did was unscrew the bracket holding it down to the passenger strut tower

Does it rub on the bar? I wouldnt want it to make contact because the aluminum will chafe through with vibration pretty quick.

hard to tell. I have seen some replicas that are actually really nice. they copied the pedals, packaging, even the instructions.

on a side note, Does anyone who's rocking the EP3 mugen grill tell me which emblem i needto get? Is it the large or the small?

Large for 04-05 face lift; small for 02-03 original.

go with the facelift version grill. once you get it, and see the 02-03 version, youll be way happier. looks a lot more up to date, with out a doubt.

im trying to wrap up my damn swap, then ill look at tackling the strut bar. my biggest worry really is figuring out what to do with the ac line. i wish i knew what i was doing and and just make a custom line just for that side, but ive never really messed with anything like that. if anyone has any pointers on that, let me know, and ill work up a diy.

since this is the mugen thread i was wondering if the mugen grill will work on m usdm 2004 ep3? and do i need the 02 grill or the 04 mugen grill??

Kerby

negatorium. the mugen grill requires a jdm bumper. Same for the radiator duct.
Showstoppers does sell a mugen grill replica and it made to fit the usdm bumper.

really? Kerby really knows his mugen goodies. i thought the 02/03 mugen grill would work with the USDM bumper. the usdm grill has the same dimensions and the 02/03 jdm bumper. i know the 04/05 would def require modification due to the slam panel/grill

Kerby's right about the radiator duct. After my surgery, when i was high off percocet last year, i tried. it was an epic FAIL

i don't jack my friend. I'm not to sure about the 02-03 grill.
i do know that it's a good idea to get a 04-05 mugen grill. the red H is bigger, and it gives it a nice "modern" look.

see the difference:

Both grille fits the USDM bumper with modifications. The 04-05 grille cost more in price + requires a radiator support panel and requires the 04-05 jdm bumper.

does the mugen grill just require double sided tape to be installed on the jdm bumper?

double sided tape and bumper clips, which comes with the grille if bought new.

here's a good question:

does the Mugen hatch spoiler have the spot to install the mugen tag?
if you got it... need a close up shot.
And what's the size of the tag? small I take it?

I think the only way to get the rivet badge is with the lip...Mugen is rough like that, any of the pieces that come with whatever part, only come with the part, no replacements :mcry:. Only way to keep shit authenic I guess. My Mugen wing was damaged when I got it and UPS took it when king sent a new one. I wish I would have known it wasnt going back to king and would be auctioned or trashed by UPS, i would have kept the install package with badge, 3m, adjust brackets, etc..(damage wasnt trash worthy, and i felt soo bad for that poor wing and what would become of it :meek:)

exactly. to this day I don't get how people can spend so much time and energy acquiring hard to find and expensive authentic parts and then part it out in the end. I want to get as many authentic parts and then in 15 years and still ROCK it like is was 2010.

On a side note I was going to get alot of misc. items: blanket, towel, wallet, and I don't remember what else... but the sale expired. Guess I'm going to have to wait alittle bit for those. now that I've had the exhaust and midpipe for awhile its definitely not loud at all, it seems to quiet now LOL

but I love it...

btw, I wonder if I did something wrong with the install but after putting on the dcrh, and mugen catback, I now have rattling under the car. Does anyone have this same problem, if so whats the fix?

check to see if everything is clearing the heat shields...if anything it has to do with the dcrh, because the mugen exhaust has oem fitment...id just get under there and move the exhaust around, see if you can make some noise with it

I dont have anymore heat shields down there
is that bad that I took them out?

when i have some time I will get down there

it just sucks working under the car, a lift would be so nice : (

WOOHOO!! Mugen is just releasing a Braking system for all RSX. AWESOME!
http://www.kingmotorsports.com/images/Product/large/1386.jpg

kit will include the following:
4-piston gold monoblock calipers for front only
front oversized rotors
front pads
rear pads
front and rear mugen lines.

best option... no brackets to make it work.
and you get to keep your e-brake.

Siborg

NICE^^^, that shit will probably be soo expensive! My trophy series stoptech are 3k(twin block full kit) and my buddys brembo monoblocks are 5k for the caliper only.

3,300.00 US$. But consider its the complete braking system. front and rear.
when I get sick of my wilwoods and the hype lowers abit on these I'm gonna get them.
they are going to be released/debut tomorrow at Dyno Day at KingMotorsports.

I spent $2800 on a dry carbon ASM hood used. A long time ago when the hood was $900.00, I thought about buying it, but saw that the top layer was FRP. If it was full dry carbon, it would have been worth it.

No not really, it was at first, but once I had it in my hands... the quality is unbelievable, the weave is supper small and tight, the ducts are functional but not wide open like my seibon, the thickness is about 1/16 and it is stupid light! Beside all that it is discontinued now, and once mugen stops makin stuff it is done forever( which sadly is what is happening to alot of the ep3 parts ).

Are you painting it?The first pic is the finish, it is dry with a very light clear on the exposed side and still dry underneath (no carbon overlay just raw carbon;). The skeleton is frp with a nice finish, and the recesses (6 i think),the dry shows through as in the first pic. I almost dont want to paint it since the weave is so flippin beautiful... but I will be painting it.

Guys I'm looking into the mugen air box and twin loop exaust. I'm thinking to make a purchase on one of these now and the other later.Currently I replaced my CAI with the stock air box with a k&N and I still have my dcrh installed with my megan cat system. What would anyone purchase 1st? I just purchased some mugen goodies last night from King but I would probably call them back and add the order. If I go with the air box I would probably order from Wayne since his is cheaper than Kings. Thanks for any replies.

I'm still in process putting together my K24 build as well so buying the mugen exuast (ep3 specific) will the effect anything in the future when the build is complete because I would not like to cut up or mess with such a spendy piece of art since everyone one says get rsx stuff for the k24 builds

I can get a few in @ regular price if you are interested. It will take a few months unless you are willing to pay extra from EMS. They go for about $145 per badge at regular price, but I am not sure what the current exchange rate is at the moment. In 2003, they were at $50 per badge.

Will, if you have an 02-03 lip, the lip comes with predilled holes. On an 04-05, just guess-estimate, drill the holes, and use a rivet gun (I had the shop do mine with a laser in 2008).

youd have to do custom housings or modify the jdm ones to make the fogs work, but from the looks of it i dont think there is room in there for the oem fogs, so my guess is youd have to get some sort of round aftermarket ones and mount and wire them in there

I had a nice chat this morning with Kingmotorsports.
I inquired on all exterior EP3 parts to see if they were still available.
King's response is that they are ALL still in production. They have yet to receive notification from Mugen saying parts are being discontinued.

So what does this mean? Keep buying Mugen parts, especially for EPs. Cause once demand drops, no more productions runs.

They will post any news on their website if they are not going to produce anymore of a specific part.
King currently has (1) hood available in stock. They were pushing harcore to try and get me to buy it... but don't have the available. They also just recently sold (2) rear wings which had to be ordered and will come in the next shipment.

Im assuming they have parts that they dont have in stock buy need to fulfill their sales for the month prior.
And probably some more extra parts that are always in demand i.e. the less expensive items

Kerby what do you think of that Mugen rear lower sway bar?
I think they are great. I've never had one, but I'm saving for one. i really hope though their rear 24mm or 25mm don't have the same issues like the other swaysbars have with the ep3 - swaybar hits the exhaust piping. That probably one of the reasons why alot of people here on epcrack run either a jdm ctr or the 05-06 rsx-s. Respectively they are 22mm and 21mm solid. I'm interested in the 24mm solid. 25 might be overkill for the way how the car is setup now. It might change though once I get coilovers. i do know that the rear mugen swaybar will the last item on my list to get.

Yeah I think I want the air box then the sport coil suspension and then the rear sway. I might go with a more agressive set of coilovers like the progressive but Mugen is my 1st choice as of right now. The 24mm should work great and I'm hoping that it should work or clear the twin loop. I was looking at that today while rotating my tires and there is plenty of room with the twin loop and my 22mm progressive rear sway I have now.

Selling the box......... :(

You have no idea how much i miss this car! Good luck with the sale Ashley. Asking price for the box should be around $350 that is what i paid for it when i bought it. Needs the authentic sticker from king made if it's available, plus the surface could use a new coat of black. Now if you want to do the work yourself you could easily pull an extra $100 or so depending on how good it looks.

the wing wont fit without some modification to the underside, the rear glass is a different shape on the ctr from any usdm hatch. It is do able though, HUR1CNE had his done to perfection and mine is at the same shop being done. Fit, finish, and function are still way above any copy, so the added work still makes it worth it.

It is do able though, HUR1CNE had his done to perfection and mine is at the same shop being done. Fit, finish, and function are still way above any copy, so the added work still makes it worth it.

Crap. That's not what I wanted to hear. Could you guys explain alittle better? So I guess in the end it its cut up a 1300 dollar spoiler or buy a jdm hatch..... I can't justify cuttig it up.

Windchaser
07-23-2010, 09:08 PM
No, it's cutting or shaving off the mounting locations and redoing it so it will sit flush. If you just mount it the way it is, the wing sits really high from the glass leaving a huge gap between the glass and the wing. I modified 3 JDM bumpers myself to install a 3 Mugen lips on 3 occasions. Not only that, I cut my JDM to fit 2 radiator ducts on 2 separate occasions (myself). Furthermore, I fitted 2 Mugen tow hooks on my bumpers also on 2 occasions. Of course, this was when only a few members were fitted with CTR kits and when having a CTR was a rare commodity itself.

you can barely see it, but if you look closely, you'll see that the top 2 corners are recessed for an additional mounting point for the spoiler. iirc the curvature of the glass might be different as well

Kerby

hmm... is there a way to check the work of a reputable shop to see if the modification was done correctly?
And what about to check if the bodyshop cut too much material from the wing?

quality is really good. Kinda sucks though that i miscalculated the front badge. Now I have to get the monster 'H'. you know the one that's the size of a damn Coke Can.
I put my Driod where the badge is suppose to go and the outline of the badge is bigger than the phone.

I'll be putting up the front badge that i got from showstoppers up for sale soon. Never been used.

Where you guys get the Huge 'H' from? ICB Motors?

Siborg
08-18-2010, 08:45 AM
Chuck @ showstoppers has the H, thats where i got mine. So is your grill for an 04/05 or 02/03(looks to be an 04 and you need a big H so im gonna say 04/05 haha)? I thought the fitment was a little different on the two (not positive) because the 05 oem grill is a two piece, and the 05 bumper itself has no upper piece like the 03. Which bumper do you have, facelift?

Kerby
08-18-2010, 10:14 AM
I got the 04-05 grill.
Don't have a jdm bumper yet... that's next on the list. I'm going to go with a facelift bumper. 04-05. and then after that comes in, I'm going to order the facelift mugen lip. i love that lip!

For the past three years I've tried to do something *BIG*. Last year was the swap, two years before that was the brake upgrade.
I've decided that this year i'm going to do the exterior. It's soon going to be 6years. the car needs a different look. That and my side skirts look like hell and have taken a severe beating.
My front hfp lip doesn't look good either. Paint looks uneven when taking dawn/dusk pictures... i kinda want to stick with SSM but with insane flakes this time to really make it sparkle.
Going full jdm and mugen. from bumpers, skirts, even the hatch (not CF mind you... the real jdm one, so i don't have to modify the mugen wing) if the place I found one is still selling it.

going to be digging around in the classifieds for a used mugen radiator vent soon. That will be the only part I'll be missing, exterior wise.
Still undecided on what rims. It's been 4 years now and I still cant decide.

Yeah, same for me, all the performance is on point now so it's getting all krispy in the shop with the fresh mugenism and paint! I got my hatch all sorted now also so no choppy on the wing, just waiting for the boat to come in, so stoked! I have no jdm front rebar so doing the duct is kinda pointless for me.

Kerby
08-19-2010, 12:37 PM
Siborg... if you going turbo, you should atleast consider the duct. It could help the intercooler.

Mugen rims.... i like them but lately their designs aren't what they used to be. Plus their offset and widths aren't what I'm looking for.

They are usually sold with the center pads. I know they are hard to find now, but I bought both of my steering wheels with the center pad for $750.00 a set in 2003. I sold my last set last year for $1300.00 w/ the center pad. I had it posted here on ephatch, but I didn't recieve one offer.

The reason your not going to get 1300 here on ephatch is because there is very little interest in stuff like that around this forum. I can't even say I would pay that much either. I got this wheel for super cheap of a buddy of mine that is parting his car out. 250 bux. I got the wheel, gas cap cover, three brand new reservoir covers, and a discontinued key chain for 295 bux. Thought I better jump on that deal.

Windchaser

I only posted it for $800.00 brand new in box, which is impossible to find. Then I threw it on ebay, started the bid @ $0.99 and the bid ended @ $1322 or something like that. That surprised even me.

However, lately a lot of people on ephatch have been inquiring about Mugen parts and are willing to pay double for certain items no longer available for the EP3. I think times have changed and the younger generations are willing to spend more for certain items.

Kerby
09-12-2010, 06:33 PM

Now, I feel like I WAS wasting my money . . . buying 3 radiator ducts, 3 02-03 front lips, 2 04-05 front lips, 2 02-03 front grilles, 2 04-05 front grille, 1 rear wing, 1 racing exhaust, 6 tow hooks, 12 sets of bolts, 2 sets of mf10s, 3 sets of anodized blue center caps, 2 sets of s1R seats, 3 sets of seat stays (rarely seen), several shift knobs, pedals & badges, 2 racing III steering wheels, etc. etc. etc . . . and that's not including all of the other jdm (now retarded) parts that I collected (I mean who the hell owned 3 sets of spare CTR bumpers and lip kits?).

If you count all that money up . . . I don't want to even think about how much money I spent.

they even came with the lug caps, center caps, lug cap keys, and no curb rash...they even have the original stickers identifying them on the inside of the wheels

...ive been looking for these wheels or 10 years in this condition and at a good price...when i bought them, the going rate for them on H-T () was 2200-2500

and yes they are actually 2 piece wheels and light as hell

Daaaaammmmmnnnn, those are clean and hella rare! good score.
finally had a chance to upload my pictures of my mugen mr-5 wheels for my 86si build...picked these up for $500 shipped from japan...4x100 15"x6.5" standard honda offset (-45?)
they even came with the lug caps, center caps, lug cap keys, and no curb rash...they even have the original stickers identifying them on the inside of the wheels

...ive been looking for these wheels or 10 years in this condition and at a good price...when i bought them, the going rate for them on H-T () was 2200-2500

and yes they are actually 2 piece wheels and light as hell

why do you think im gobbling up as many ep3 parts now... stuff is going to be discontinued soon so it's going to be double and sometimes triple the price in the future.

Shhh your gonna jinx us ep owners lol!

Yeah, but is it really worth spending all of that money? At one time, I thought it was the coolest thing and such.

Throw one of those spare bumpers my way!

not too sure.

mugen emblem doesn't look riveted either

the emblem is fake of course cause the previous owner stated it didn't come with one when he bought it.

also what gets me is it has the holes on the underside if you see it for the cross bar or wutevers that comes with the real mugen lip. i dont know if that make sense.

yea, i was gonna say. looking at the pics. the fiberglass looks different. i think mugen's is white/light yellow-ish. plus the fiberglass is thick/heavy duty. the bar isnt a defining factor. i know for a fact that SSR sell's their jdm fitment mugen lips with a bar thats a replica of the mugen piece. those holes you see in the pic should be the holes for the bar

I havent seen too much of this color at all, especially on an ep...hoefully it will match the color of the bay...

Thanks man!

U mean that clear laminate stick on stuff?? Bc if that's what u r referring to there's no way I'm putting that stuff on bc I can't stand how it looks. I'll probably just get a hood bra for the highway.

i was never a fan of the mugen hood til i saw these pics. i guess its bc you usually see replicas. did you intentionally leave the raised parts of the vents black or is it CF or something.
