So a month or so ago my CMC bit the dust (halfway through a stage 3 clutch on a 2002, it lived an expectable life), and I got it replaced by a shop that I trust fairly well. Now, when I start the car in the morning, once I come off the clutch I get like a light grinding noise until the engine warms up. It only makes this sound when cold starting, and only when I'm OFF the clutch completely and out of gear. What's going on and should I be worried?

Could be a throwout bearing heading south.

What are the implications of that, in terms of how urgently I need to get this fixed? I'm getting pretty tired of problems between the clutch and transmission when I've had no issues at all with the engine itself (knocking on wood right now). I'm planning on trying to square away all of these issues when I graduate (May), provided that it can wait that long.

My only thought was the throwout bearing as well. I am assuming that the one that came with the clutch kit was used? Hope you figure it out man!
