Well since my thread has been long lost. I believe it's time once again for me to show how my EP3 has come to be what it is. Yes, that means from start to finish.

"Why?" You may as, well that's because i suffer from insomnia and currently bored at home! LOL!

So enough idle chit-chat and i'll get on with it!

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a clear spring day in the middle of March or 2006. Stopped by to get a quote on a new 2006 FG, the first to hit Milwaukee actually. After some talk with the salesman about what options they were going to equip this NHBP FG with for the auto show and ultimately what it would cost me to purchase it. I decided that i would take a gander at their used cars. When i looked out of the window into the lot i saw it. There stood the Taffeta White 2002 Civic Si (EP3) that i had always dreamed of. It was then and there i decided to purchase the car.

Used with only 24,000 miles on it! Immediately i started modifying it. First with an AEM V2 Intake, Samco Radiator Hoses, Mugen Oil Cap, and DIY Amber Sidemarkers.

After attending some local HT meets, i noticed that i was about the only EP owner that showed. That was when i decided to put together a strictly EP only meet. Let me say it was a HUGE success! Tons of midwest EP owners showed up and i met a lot of my fellow friends here. Most of which no longer own EP3s.....

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l289/TunerConcepts/DSC00529.jpg

I then added a couple other modifications to the list. Like a used carbon hood, Tanabe super medallion racing exhaust, and a DC shorty manifold.

During a trip down to visit what was my girlfriend at the time. I made a 4 hour side trip to see what Texas offered for EP3 meets. Let me tell you it was one of the largest gatherings of EP3 owners in the country at the time. I was aw-struck by how many showed up! I had a blast hanging out with HolyEffingCow and all the other owners. At this time i was rocking some cheap 16" Enkei wheels.

Letting the car cool after the 16 hour straight haul from WI.

Shortly after i made purchase of a Mugen replica carbon wing from Seibon.

Then bad luck struck the car..... I was on my way to work when a 1990 Celica GT was cruising down the freeway. Then all of a sudden the damn Celica's hood flew straight into the air and into my lane. I knew that if i hit the brakes that hood was coming through the windshield, so i floored it. Hoping that i would be able to make it under...... However i wasn't fortunate. The damn hood had sliced my wing in half and the driver never once hit his brakes. I made the mistake of stopping.....

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/wing/DSC00730.jpg

That following spring i had been introduced to auto-x and i had it in my head that i was going to compete. Now with auto-x i knew that something had to be done about the suspension. I had my fair share of 2 wheel wonders during the mountain road escapade in Texas. With all my extra cash, i bought some beefy components.

Tein SS-P Coilovers w/ Camber Plates, DC5R rear sway, and Skunk2 Rear Camber Kit. I also knew that i would need some added grip and power so i dropped even more cash on Hondata Kpro, Exedy Stage 1 Clutch, 8.5lb Flywheel, and an OBX LSD. Took the carbon hood off to be STX legal.

It was then time to go down to southern Indiana to meet up with the crew down there. JohhnyDanger and Stubby are the easiest for you all to recognize. Plus one lone wolf from Missouri which used to be known as Nitrofaint. We had a blast driving around the southern Indiana roads, i had video of the cruise. Only issue was all the good sections were lost due to batteries dying. So i had done my best at the time to make this video of the meet. I still remember getting down under the car in the gravel parking lot to install the AEM CAI that i traded my AEM V2 for....... I was so wet before the cruise.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/Vids/th_TougeChallenge_0001.jpg (http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/Vids/?action=view&current=TougeChallenge_0001.flv)

I made some minor cosmetic changes. Got ride of the ugly 16 Enkei Wheels for some 17" ones. Did the DIY painted center console, UKDM Cluster, JDM Accord Euro R Shift Knob, and Jdm Shifter Boot.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00086.jpg
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00306.jpg

Soon it was spring and auto-x was about to begin. With some added luck on the forums i was able to source a Mugen Rear H Pillar Bar, Comptech Ti Front Strut Tower Bar, and a lighweight Buddy Club Race Spec Battery.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00052.jpg
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00283.jpg

Later that season my radiator was starting to go, so i quickly shelled out for a new Koyo aluminum one.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00112.jpg
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00118.jpg

Another minor modification. HFP rear wing installed.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00142.jpg
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00146.jpg

After the season was over, the bad luck had hit the car again. I had the car parked as far out of the way so that no one would hit it while plowing the driveway. However my brother found a way to do just that..... He had backed the truck's bed up on top of my car's hood.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00145.jpg

The following spring i had just broken up with my girlfriend of before i was about to ask her to marry me. Thanks to some luck i didn't have the ring sized! LOL! I was able to return it next day for full value! Where do you think that money landed? Well with the help from Tai and Remy i was able to get the car more competitive in STX. With the purchase of 2 Buddy Club P1 Limited Seats and DG Industries Harness Bar. Plus some more luck on the forums with the purchases of a DC5R 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, a pair of Takata Harnesses, and Wilwood Big Brake Kit.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00022-1.jpg

Then about mid-season i had gone to my storage unit and pulled out the Buddy Club Spec II exhaust from a DC5 and had King customize it to fit the EP3. Man i miss that exhaust...........

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00082.jpg
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/th_Movie.jpg (http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/?action=view&current=Movie.flv)

Needless to say the car was competitive. Only competition i had was a lonely WRX that a friend of mine drove. He always placed 1st and i was there to take 2nd. Usually the Golf R32 followed right after.

It was then when i decided to transition from auto-x to HPDE events at local tracks. Starting off with WMHM07 and WMHM08 @ Gingerman Raceway.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/Gingerman/DSC00007.jpg

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/Autocross/Day2_023.jpg

Then in 2009 i made the decision to say screw auto-x classing and just removed the rear seats. Then when i raced auto-x i would class in SM so i just kept the carbon hood on as well. Around this time i also got a sweet deal on some pretty much new 17x7.5 Work Emotion XD9's.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/Photo%20Shoots/DSC00030.jpg

Also removed the stock steering wheel and replaced it with a Sparco 345.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00019.jpg

Then St Patricks Day happened.......... Friends talked some sh*t to some drunk that was walking down the sidewalk. I was trying to mind my own business, however i had to save their asses by whooping the drunks. However that came with consequence, the friend that had ridden shotty with me got into the mix. The guy was now pissed at him instead of me because he had hit him while i had him on the ground. So he came over and kicked the crap out of the passenger side of the car. I had just installed the JDM front end on......
Before:

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00081-1.jpg

I then sold the JDM front end and purchased another however this one came with an authentic Mugen Lip. With the money i had received from the insurance claim due to the damage. My friend's father was able to do all the body work repairs and almost a fresh paint job for the whole car. This was only possible because my best friend and i did all the prep work. I also had the JDM rear end and side skirts waiting for paint as well.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00136.jpg

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k136/20Civic02Si/DSC00138.jpg

However it took a while to get his father to follow through and finish the car. Even though it wasn't completely finished i had to get back out on the track. So i grabbed the Mugen lip and threw it on the morning i headed down to ITR Expo9. I had picked up a set of 16x7.5 Kosei K1 wheels which i wrapped in 225/50/16 R Comp tires. Which aren't shown in the pics.

Recently i have had an urge to change things up. I sold one of the Buddy Club P1 Limited Seats in hopes for affording some new FIA approved race buckets. However it was a bad move on my end. My new girlfriend had moved in with me and she was in need of a car. I had a suburban which she drove around for a while, but due to the cost of gas i needed something more fuel efficient. So i made the bad decision of trading it in on a used Nissan Versa. The car is great however the payments aren't. It's set me back quite a bit on getting my car up and ready for the track. My motor is on it's last leg, clutch needs replacement, and trans needs a rebuild. So as it's looking for this year i don't have the time or money to follow through with this. I am forced to baby the car back and forth around town and try to drive it as little as possible. I can't wait to get some of my debt paid down so i can begin building my monster motor and have more than one seat in the damn thing.

Here is a pic of the new get-around car.

I would however with the K24a2 shorter gear ratios wouldn't work out very well. I think that the 4.3 final out of the Type S would suit the 2.4 very well.

Yeah surprisingly enough WI has a lot of reputable EP3 owners. Some others to check out are: "Superhatch", "03K20a3Si", and myself. I have been lucky so far as to avoiding the drunks. Hopefully i'll never have to deal with that ever happening to any other of my rides.

Well it's looks like tonight the car might be going on a plastic diet. Friend gave me a call asking if i could sell him my rear seat belts. Since i need to remove just about every plastic panel from the front seats back to get them. Might as well pull them out!

Turns out that my friend doesn't need the rear seat belts. So i'll be putting off the gutting of the car until i can do it completely. Although i should have some new pics of the car up today.

My friends and i got bored this morning. I had been talking about what i wanted to do to the car this month. Like, install my Function7 control arms, overhaul on my braking system, as well as a rear wiper delete. As i said that, my friend tells me to hold on a sec. He runs to his EK and grabs out something. Runs back over to me and within his had was an OEM rear wiper delete plug. He looks at me and says, you want to do it now!

Needless to say we got right to work. Had to cut off the stud that the wiper arm attaches to because it was completely seized. 30 minutes and some laughs later we got her done. This weekend coming up we're going to install the Function7 rear control arms.

I would recommend it to someone in the market for one. I sold mine thinking i was going to have an autopower installed. However with the lack of budget and the mountain of debt. My focus has been shifted. I still have the 5500 on the EP to pay off, plus a pretty big credit card. It all kind of works out i guess. Just tranferred to a new prison that is closer to home. I went from a 35 minute drive to work now only 3 minutes! LOL! With the new schedule it's hard to say if i'll even get out to a track, so i'm just going to focus on getting the debt paid off by this fall. Once that's taken care of. Then i can focus on the K24 N/A build plus the 6sp gearbox. Should have that swapped in this winter.

Then i think my friends and i will be doing a full gutting of the interior to get it ready for a roll cage come next spring. No telling where this road leads, it's all just a matter of time............ and i hate waiting.........

Too be honest i think they might have. I would call up Tai or Remy at Corsport to figure that out. However i do believe Sparco now makes one for the car. But if you're going to spend the cash, just have an Autopower dropshipped to your door for a little extra cash. Just make sure you get the DOM with the proper wall thickness.

As for your pic, it'll be the same thing happening to my car whenever my friends and i get around to it! LOL!

Why yes it is! Had to go over it twice because there was a chemical reaction to the first base coat that made it turn almost "Champ" white. Second coat made it match perfectly.

And it's nowhere near being done yet! This car still has a ton of life left in it. It'll have even more life when i finally get to building the K24 i have lying around for it.

Yeah they don't have that bar anymore.

I kind of figured, however it's not really that big of a deal. Your car is gutted so you might as well go for the added safety of the Autopower roll bar.

Had an awesome conversation with my best friend today! We have came up with the conclusion that this winter the car is getting torn down and we're going through with a ground up build. Whether or not i'll be keeping the JDM bumpers and Mugen lip really only depends on a couple of things. I can tell you this though, this build is going to be extensive and done with the utmost attention to detail.

Come winter the car will be placed on jack stands and torn down completely. Suspension is going to be completely parted out, i'm talking everything. Coils, wilwood kit, and possibly exterior. I will be posting these items up for sale. Suspension i will be trying to sell to someone with an EM2 looking for a 4 wheel disk conversion. From there on out, i will start one of the most extensive builds done to an EP3 to date.

Hell yeah I'm going to get it in the 2,2xx range soon, you sure you want that heavy ass cage? Although it's the first thing that came to my mind in my sideways off road excursion this weekend. Check out my thread later tonight for track pics and maybe a vid will be up.

Cages are a bit heavy, that's for sure. Even with that said, safety is top priority. Not to mention that it'll add some much needed rigidity to the car. It'll more than likely be constructed with chromoly steel to keep weight down.

Well i believe that it's time to start parting out what i no longer want or need on the car. This goes for my wheels, exterior, well basically everything that i have done to the car since day one. It's sexy as it is exterior-wise. However i'm leaning more towards building the car into an all out track machine. I live only 1 mile from work now and i just want to get a cheap daily beater, then let the work on the EP3 begin.
