try selling the EP before getting the WRX yourself, get more for it, just have more patience, the only thing that can happen is the price of the WRX falling and you having to get it from another dealer.

Tell the guy you found one at another dealership and you're taking your business elsewhere. I did that when I bought my EP and the guy gave me another $1500 for my old Civic. If he still doesn't offer you anymore than definitely go to another dealer, $3500 is a effin Joke, they still sell for almost $10k with your mileage.

don't do it. I sold mine for $3,500 but it was an 02 with 3 body shop visits. 168k miles. definatly showed signs of wear and tear.... still was a great car.

You should sell for closer to 7-8k

yea thats what i was thinking between 7000-8000 and i was will to trade it in for 6000 he said your car is not worth that much. i told him to go f**k himself and left. it sucks for him i had the 20000 on me and he knew it!!!!

Well you probably won't get 6k for the car because most dealerships can't sell a car that is modded that easily and often have to drop the price.... I'd say sell it yourself

Try to sell it yourself, I was in the same situation and got quoted for 5k.

You will never get 5600 trade in. If a dealership offers that much spit in their face. They are basically moving numbers around. Charging more for the vehicle on the lot to pretend like you are getting that as trade in... So you feel warm and fuzzy. 3500 seems a little low but i say most true trade in would be 4500$.

When you goto buy a car----- Get the cars price talk them down then say you have a trade in... You will have the cars value (of what they are selling it to you for) and can actually adjust your trade in number w/o them fucking with you..

Truth is, the ep is not a popular car and if you can get 8k for it selling to an individual it is b/c the individual is looking for that kind of car.. Realistiaclly if you get 7k for it that's a good day. With low miles your best bet is to try to get 4500$ (if you can a little more) trade in.. Taxes are a bitcha nd trade in will help a shit ton on taxes... Just sayin'

Stealerships are not offering full value on any trade-in in this economic climate. The lower the trade-in price, the greater the salesmans commision as well.

I wouldnt waste that kind of money on a car, what a waste IMHO. I suppose I am contributing to the slow economic recovery when I tell people to not buy new cars or other big ticket items, and just repair or buy used.

Agreed, but to stay on topic, to the op- you did the right thing by refusing their trade-in amount and walking out. Have you heard from them yet? What kind of deal were you getting off MSRP on the WRX? Personally I don't think expecting $5600 is too unrealistic, I guess it depends on where you live also. I was getting ready to trade in the EP on a new FA5 last month, they offered me $5,200 iirc for my '02 EP w/81k miles, lightly modded in almost perfect condition. I was also getting around $2,500 off MSRP on the FA5. Ended up keeping the EP and trading in my beater (DB8) on an '06 TSX, so far so good. Now the EP is my beater! lol :msmile:

doesnt sound like this guy wants to sell you a car very bad. went to go trade in an 03 vw gti for an 09 gti. they first offered me 4500, i laughed at them and told them not a chance. came back 10 minutes later and offered me 8.5k (enough to pay off what i had left on it), didn't modify the cost of the new car at all.

03 gti had 65k miles on it
09 gti had 9 on it when i bought it.

They wanted to sell me a car, IMO these guys are not trying to sell you a car.
