I hear this pretty bad grinding sound coming from the rear of my car - so I pulled the parking brake (its really loose and barely holds the car on a hill anymore), and the noise goes away - but 30 minutes comes back again.

Is this the parking brake OR one of the rear calipers dragging? Is the parking brake connected to both rears or just one of them?

The caliper could need to be rebuilt or you could need new pads and rotors. How are their condition?

Warped - why would they make that nosie when backing up or turning left though?

First off brake rotors DO NOT WARP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

They can wear unevenly due to stuck sliders/pins etc. Corrosion and dirt/stone deposits can also cause the brake caliper to "drag" under certain conditions. Check your wheel bearings and calipers, something is stuck or worn.
