I know a little about cars but not a whole lot. anyways i talked to the guy and he said the title was branded because he bout it from a police auction and that the bumpers were off because he had aftermarket bumpers on it.

Depends on the previous damage and whether or not it was repaired correctly....

I would at least go look at it...

Check out the repairs done...

.make sure the rear quarters are not all bondo...
.check the front frame rails ,suspension, steering for damage and that its true
.check for blow by
.check coolant
.check oil ,make sure there is no coolant in the oil or vise versa...

And of course offer much less ... like 2,100 and see where it gets you!
Projects like this can be a very good learning experience....

Be smart...

Not a chance, don't touch it, don't look at it, don't even think about it. $3k is waaaay too much for a reconstructed title owned by someone who can't even be bothered to put the bumpers back on.
Gotta look at it this way, just to be safe: If the owner doesn't care enough to finish a simple job like bumpers, WTF else has he/she let go?

Walk on that.

Imo, any car on craigslist is too sketchy to consider. Unless theyve got it listed elsewhere (autotrader, etc). Just seems likeanything myself or my freinds have come across on the list seems to be sketch as hell.

buyin modded cars or previously modded cars is usualy ALWAYS a no-no, unless you kno the person you are getting it from.

just because you pay dosent mean it will be better...

Many cars have been repaired with never reporting to insurance...if your like me I love to rip cars apart and build them to my specs ,why am i going to pay 7,000 to 8,000 for a car Im going to rip apart ...its a street rod.....

to each its own but I rathere spend money on parts ...

Not to mention the lack of impact beams.. That has redflag written all over it.
