that build will never work dude. K20a3 an all k24's except the k24a2 don't have the the 3 lob vtec cams. They're pretty much completely different engines on the inside.

not to be an a-hole. But I am guessing you have not read the MULTIPLE threads out there right now about the vtec killer setups by running the a2 cam's in the a3/a1/a4 heads. All you do is use a3/a1/a4 exhaust rockers on the intake side. Shave the rockers if need be for the width of the big single lobe of the a2 cams, swap a2 valvetrain for safety's sake, use k-pro and now you are using stage 3-3.5 cams on your k20a3, k24a1/4 motors. It's already being done by several people and a3's are putting out over 190hp and some mild k24's are throwing down 240hp with the proper flowing bolt-ons.

Yep and in a few weeks everyones gonna see me prove why for a frank motor the k24a1 head is superior to the k20a2. No doubt in my mind that the OP will break 200whp. A3 head is choking asanazine out big time.

Either a PRC or a RBC mani, you are camming for midrange and up, and both work well up top.

damn, that really makes me want to take out my skunk2 stage 2 cams and pick up some a2 cams. I already have the spare exhaust rockers from my a3 since I am rocking a k24a1 head too. But instead I think I will just do this to a k24a4.

Great result!!! and what to you believe was your final price on this build was?

I wonder if you could have cracked 200 with a2 pistons?

Onasty
05-14-2010, 01:22 PM
parts -800, tune and install-1200, all together 2000... i didnt wanna take the risk of swapping the head myself. ive done everything else with a car except that so i left it to the pros

how much did it cost you to tune? and how much for assembly? Which clearence did you go by for the valve adjustment, a1, a2, or a3?

Good numbers man, I bet the car is pretty damn fun to drive. Just goes to show that as proven before, the K24A1 head is a pretty damn good piece, especially for the money.

Wow, that thing lopes like a V8 at idle! Have you had any drive-ability issues with the "killer" setup?

yea deff sounds like a muscle car but it idles perfectly @ 1 or 9, the only issue i have with drive-ability is seriously speed limit... i wanna push it every day

Could you do this build with 150k miles on the bottom end, I wouldn't think so?

Onasty
06-13-2010, 02:29 PM
the only reason i would said yes it because its oem cams and not aftermarket so the bottom end isnt stressed as much

Glad to see the prc went to goo use onasty ;) i will actually be doing this on my k24a4 when i get it. Still gathering parts right now. I will be happy to brake 200. In all honesty though wat im really after is the torque offered from the k24. Gotta love the pull.
