This past weekend Gaurdian and I painted my rota c8's.. We used Dupli-Color "High Performance Wheel Coating" for the paint and clear. Got ahead of myself and picked up two cans of some shitty sealer primer from wal-mart.. We think if we would have used the Dupli-Color primer the wheels would have turned out even better...
what we did was....
2 coats sealer primer
2 coats paint (it really depended on the wheel, the rota casting has a lot of imperfections it then.. not to mention the mal-mart primer was garbage)
1 coat wet paint
1 coat clear
1 coat wet clear =

Did you remove the original black coating at all beforehand? Like aircraft stripper or sanded it?

That stuff works awesome. I had a set of Borbet BS that came with my girlfriends old car that were kinda beat up. I stripped em down and painted them with the same paint, turned out awsome. Only thing that managed to take the paint off was when my friend forgot to tighten up her caliper bolt and about 2 hours from home (on the way home) the caliper bolt let go and it was rubbing on the inside of the wheel.

Cant wait to see pics mounted though.

Nice, I may paint my stockies in the gunmetal finish. Keep us posted on how well the paint holds up. It looks good! :)

ues the dupli-color high performance wheel coating primer.. the sprayer is much better, it has a fan spray head.. it also seemed to coat much better

Those turned out nice. For what i do, i don't think that the paint would last very long at track temps. I'm having my Works acid dipped and re-powder coated because of the Hawk Blue brake pad dust oxidized on the surface. Sticking with the same color.

Excellent choice on tires. haha, how are you liking them so far?

Mmm, just picked up myself a set of track wheels, tempted to paint them white... yay summer project!

Looks nice. I had a room mate rattle can his wheels, they came out so well that some people thought the new color was an OEM option of some kind.

I'm thinking i'm probably gonna do this on my stock wheels. Did you really need a whole can of the actual bronze color for each wheel like some people say you do? and also when you say "wet coat" do you mean just applying another coat while the previous one was still wet?
