View Full Version : Got Some Money Now What Should I do? I have a headache!

Ok so I got some funds to play around with (not too much though compared to others on the forums)

I have so much plans for the my ep and I have already dropped alot of money into it since only last summer when I started the build.

Here are my options:
1) Drop in my k24a2 that I have had since last summer. I still need to buy prb kpro (has reverse lock out for my future 6 speed), billet innovative motor mounts 75a $306 shipped, k24 passenger side bracket, tune at DoitDyno for $150/hour (Im only anticipating an hour since my tsx motor is completely stock), em2 front sway bar to clear my dcrh from a type rsx-s. This should cost about $2200 depending on the kind of deals I can find.

2) Repaint the entire car again (which by the way just got a full paintjob not more than 4 months ago) to a different color which I havent decided yet but I like championship white, plain old nhbp, maybe a spoon blue like the new mustangs . Cost $2400 for everything except the engine bay. Price is discounted already.

3) Keep the same color on the car and just repaint my jdm 04-05 complete exterior kit the same color. This will cost about $800. I know its very cheap but the same guys who painted my car are helping me out abit seeing my dilemma or sickness of never being satisfied.

4) If I just do the swap and not paint the car and say fuck eibach then I can also get a clutch stage II sprung and flywheel 10-12 lbs setup.

I only have enough for either the full paintjob and no swap or the minor paintjob and the swap
so what should I do? My only concern is that I know that I will be repainting the entire car again and would have to come up with $2400 again for the paintjob. So is $800 worth it in order to make it for eibach or should I say screw eibach and do it right?

I still have to pay for my ctr conversion, projectors, alignment and a bunch of miscellaneous expenses for the ep.

Im somehow trying to finish the car for eibach on May 16th but Im not sure if it will be done on time.

Like I said, this extra money is giving me a headache

I would do the swap first and then go from there. There is no way I could have waited this long, since you have the motor already.

Do the swap. If I had everything you had that's what I would do.

Several items on #1 that need to be addressed, first off no need to get a PRB ECU simply to get reverse lockout(it isnt needed, if you accidently hit reverse on a LHD 6spd you shouldnt have a drivers license), Innovative mounts sux big time green nasty donkey dugans(AVID only in 65).

Forget the paint.

I havent heard about innovative sucking, I gotta read up some more, where did you get that info
tell me more about y not 75a

if that turns out to be true, even better for me because innovative is more expensive

and about the 6 speed, I heard the same thing from other people about only an idiot would hit reverse instead of 6th, but I wouldnt know if I will fall into that category if I have never driven a 6speed b4
better safe than sorry no

but the majority of the people seems to agree about doing the swap first

I went thru 3 sets of Innovatives, AVID's are the only mounts worth investing in, they are fantastic!!!

The drivers side and rear mount needs to be far softer as they dont support nearly the amount of weight as the pass side does. All the extra hardness does is transmitt vibes. The front and rear mount's are not intended to carry any weight, but are there to resist the rocking motion from torque, but due to the solid design of aftermarket mounts they do carry a little weight, this places about 60% of the weight on the pass side mount and the remaining 40% carried on the other three mounts, this explains why a mixed hardness is the way to go, 75 on the pass side, 65 on the drivers side and 55 on the front and rear. The 65 will work ok on the rear mount and either a stock front or simply fill with WindoWeld. This setup works fantastic on my car, absolutely no engine movement and the vibes are greatly reduced at idle and are not present above that.

I gotta read this many more times to understand it
my brain is off right now
I have not slept yet
been reading up on my upcoming swap
but it sounds good to me and I will be doing just that

thanks for taking the time to explain it, thats the first I ever heard of it

So either 55 on the front and rear
OR
65 on the rear and a stock front

which is better though?

By the way
Avid's numbering is as follows:
Available durometer's are 62a (street), 75a (street/race) and 90a (extreme race)

So...
75a pass side
62a dirver side

no 55 available so...62 on the rear & stock front motor mounts (any benefit to adding energy suspension insert to the front)
What is WindoWeld?

Can you confirm this?

btw, what made you go to avid's post on k20 after you posted here...lol

Opt for option 2! Do it once, do it right!

Matte black would be tits...not to be confused with flat black, that sh!t looks like primer.

http://files.brandflakesforbreakfast.com/images/lexus_matte_black.jpg

Raw as hell, this paint would make almost any car look hella sick.

Good luck!!!

i always thought matte black= flat black and that satin black is the one pictured

but either way, i dont like those types of flat colors anymore, at least not on my ep

I want a nice glossy paint that I can wax, buff and polish

thanks

i hear you man
if I paint the bumpers now just the ssame color as my car it would be such a waste because I know that I will repaint again soon

On the one side I want the car to look good on the outside but on the other hand I want her to perform like beast

i vote for minor painting and motor swap ftwmfw!!! why paint your car again? when it was painted before. what color is it now?? i think you'd be much more satisfied with a motor swap to get our little ep3 out the gates and then finish it off with a touch of you CTR style painted up and your car can be somewhat complete.

oh by the way did you ever install that steering rack bracket?

If you repaint it, I wouldnt choose any of those colors except maybe Spoon Blue...everything else is so common.I would try to find a cool color nobody has yet..

I haven't seen many people with dark blue colored ep's yet..and I never see any form of gray ep's except that bright oem usdm silver color..forgot the name.

.if you're repainting that gives you the option of choosing ANY color you can think of..so its relatively easy to find a unique color.

Just my $0.02

Ive seen a spoon blue on other cars and it looked great
when I saw it on an ep it kinda turned me off
Im not sure if its just the car itself that turned me off or the paint
Ill post pics of the car Im referring to.

I am not sure why I dont like it
is it the quality of the paint or what

but when I look at the grabber blue on the 2010 mustang Im loving it

Thanks for everyones input so far

I will end up doing a basic swap for now!

My next qestion is whether I should spend that $800 on the paint
or get a clutch/flywheel combo stage II sprung; 11.5 lbs

I plan to get either a quaife LSD or wavetrac in the future as well

Or should I work on the tranny later on and just get the basic swap done for now

Also in terms of my tranny it has 47k, Im thinking of either keeping this tranny and adding a tsx 6th or buying an a2 tranny?

Dude, you're crazy. that Spoon Blue EP is total sex. I want that color on my EP..

I am considering the spoon blue as well but that blue ep above is no way pure sex....not to me at least
Im very picky and particular thats one of the reasons Im repainting my car and been droppin so much cheese on it

not digging the wheels or its color, the way he painted the car just dont look right
he even painted the bottom bumper grill blue, dont like the stickers either
I dont like it but that dont make me crazy

we all got diff taste,
I've seen alot of cars on here that are "pure sex" and that blue ep aint one of them

to give you some examples: hur1cne's white ep, nyquil's blue ep, n shg eazy e's silver ep
those ep's are CLEAN AND PROPER just like Guardian's shaved and tucked bay but that blue one above
is nowhere near being considered pure sex at least by me : ) (no offense to who ever owns that car)
