I was wondering what you guys think of the Skunk2 Intake manifold... is it worth it? I just have a cai, full skunk2 exhaust, dc full headers.
Thanks

On the A3 it isnt worth even considering with cam's and Kpro!

It is for fully built A2 engines with stage3 cams, any other application and the mani fails to perform as touted.

Word! Thanks! Have you done the reflash? Worth it? Is it hard to take the ecu off? Thanks

ecu is easy to take out, its behind the glove box and held in by i think 3 10mm bolts....reflash was worth it for me definatley but im upgrading to kpro within the next week

Nice. I will look into the reflash and maybe do it this summer! With the kpro, is it the same process like sending the ecu with the immobilizer?

no need to send the immobilizer with kpro but kpro is best with a tune and you can add on around $500 at least just for the tune

ssr race header, injen cai, skunk2 catback, skunk2 stage 3 cams with supertech titanium springs and retainers

With those mods you are better of with the complete Kpro. The reflashs run lean with a header.

Also the Supertech's are steel springs with Ti retainers.

I think i remember someone saying that the reflash is best suited for the basic bolt on crowd. Which is me for right now as im not making bank. Once you start doing some serious modding upgrade to full kpro and call it a day.

Also remember that the reflash is plug and play then forget, while Kpro is plug and play, and play, and play, and play, and play, and play.

speaking of which, it's about time I do a datalog and check the status of my tune. I did a few during the winter time and the WOT runs were good. I still have a lot of knock at part-throttle but that is just valvetrain noise with the 07si valvesprings and retainers and probably the need for a valvelash. Nothing has changed on the car, but once I get my KRRH put on and a new midpipe it will be time for a brief tune. I'll probably just get the a/f tuned and not worry about cam angles and ignition. No need for a full tune even though I wanted to hit 190hp on the a3, but I don't expect 10hp from the KRRH over my DCRH and temporarily replacing my megan midpipe with a type-s until a custom 2.5 exhaust is put together.

If I got a kpro later on, does the immobilize thing get programmed into it too like the reflash?

If you send in your present ECU and have Kpro installed, the immobilzor is not affected and will not require anything.

It's only $290? Wow, I always thought it was in the 500s. I don't know why I haven't done this yet. I'm a bolt on only daily driver who's too poor to ever take a big step. I'm shopping now. There should be some sort of EPhatch.com rule that says before posting a tuning question remember than KPro is the answer.
