My stock shocks finally blew after 4 years! I currently have Tein S-Techs on and would like to keep them. What shocks pair best with the S-Techs and last the longest? Any input greatly appreciated. Thank you!

$400-500 for parts. I think Tein shocks are too expensive for my budget.

d-specs are a solid bet. a few of the local guys are running them and love them. i'm running koni's once i stop procrastinating and put them in. i know a local here that is gonna sell a nearly new set of tokico blues soon.

http://www.corsportusa.com/store/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=50&products_id=423&osCsid=edec9802f1413c0afa86220ee4f95cff

and just incase, heres the link for the koni's, IMO i would go with the koni's there a good match with the s-tech springs and actually cheaper right now and prob more your price range:

http://www.corsportusa.com/store/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=147&products_id=3263

Konis it is. Is the "heavy modification" a serious problem?

Haven't had an experience with them, but from my understanding you will need your stock shocks.

That's the modification.

due to budget constraints at the time...i bought Tokico Blues...after 3 yrs...still going strong...so I guess I can't complain...have them matched with H&r sport springs...corsport is a good vendor!

Anyone know what is involved with the "modification"

you have to cut the top off of the strut bodies up front, pull everything out of them and use the shell as the mount for the koni inserts. they go over the koni's like a sleeve.

Any mods required for the D-Specs?

It sounds as if the assembly is easier with the D-Specs (Don't require mods) is this true? Also, which shock is better for ride comfort D-Specs or Koni Yellows?

I would suspect D-specs would give you a greater range of ride quality adjustment. THey are more primitive dampers as they adjust both bump and rebound valving at the same time (one valve stack); rather then konis that are designed to only adjust rebound valving. Of the two, bump valving has a far greater role in ride quality, where as rebound has a greater role in tweaking a cars handling balance.
