been doing some research.. and im looking for a swap.. but i want to do the k24a1 or the k24a4 for now and vtec later..
i dont see a differance on them beside on 1 ft lb of torque higher on the a1...
but yet the a1 is more expensive.. WHY?

and will any of these motors run on my oem ep3 2002 ecu..?

besides the headers clearnce with the front sway bar..? how hard is the swap..?

ive done my clutch so iv been in these motors just havnt swap the motor...
help... if faster text me... 719-217-3304 thx.

Davis's k24a1 swap thread has most of everything you will ever need to know in it. Otherwise, there are plenty of us here that have done k24 swaps, rebuilt k24's, and have had many different setups with the k24's, to pretty much answer all of your questions.

It has long been accepted that the k24a1 block is the best base for starting your build. The k24a1 costs a little bit more likely because it can have other parts from the k series familiy easily swapped onto it without the need for modification or changing of parts. The k24a4 however has these limitations. Dont look at it as a 1ftlb difference in TQ, but look at it as which is the better base for mods now, AND in the future.

Check it... simply, the k24a1 IS an OEM stroked k20a3. If you buy a k24a1 and remove the intake manifold off of each one and set the engines side by side, you will see what i mean. Almost identical engines. The heads share the same valvetrain, cams, and rocker assemblies (grouped by years 02-03, and 04-05), and the k24a1 head casting is arguably (depending on your goals) one of the best flowing heads made by Honda.

You can swap a k20a2/k24a2 head directly on a k24a1 block w/o the need to change pistons, or be concerned about piston to valve contact. The k24a4 has this issue. Why would you wanna drop a k20a2/k24a2 head on a block with such low compression? BOOSTED VTEC! Add a JRSC or turbo and bam... youre on your way to a beastly tire roaster.

Another popular swap is the oil pump off of the k20a2 on to the k24a1. The oil pump wont fit the k24a4 without modification. The modification isnt a big deal, it just really depends on what kinda wrench you are... or what kinda shop you have locally that will do the work for you. If someone will be installing for you, talk to them to see what they know about a hybrid setup. This way you know you arent buying yourself something no one locally will touch.

Oh and YES the k24a1 CAN run on your stock ECU but there are limited parameters to do so, to run it safely.

K series setups are coming down in price, but they arent as cheap as b/d series swaps. Because of this, you need to kinda plan out your build... unless you got 10k+ to drop on the best of everything to do it all at once. lol

It means you cant just run any choice of header/exhaust and intake. You HAVE to run OEM 310cc injectors (easily found off of an 02-04 RSX-S or TSX, direct fit no mods). Since you kinda NEED a specific raceheader for swaybar clearance with a k24 swap (an RSX-S DC Sports Race Header is an inexpensive option), i would stay safe and either limit your air intake (use stock airbox), or restrict your exhaust (use stock midpipe/axleback), or both. That way you have the swap complete, and can enjoy some of its potential safely, until you have the coin for KPro and a tune. Then you can slap on whatever bolt-ons you like.

If you DO decide to go the RSX-S DCRH route, and dont wanna modify the length of your OEM midpipe to fit, you can pick up an OEM midpipe NEW from Acura for $150 for the 05 RSX-S that is a direct fit with the RSX-S DCRH and the EP axleback. No mods needed, just turn a few wrenches and go.

I do know peeps that have run a k24a1 on a k20a3 ECU with the 310's, and a CAI/raceheader/aftermarket catback... for a LONG time with zero issues. But i wouldnt suggest it, as playing it safe is your best bet.

Out of curiosity, whats the diameter of the RSX-S mid-pipe?

2.25" i think. 02-04 fits just as well, but is even smaller in diameter.

thats correct 2.25... I almost went this route but opted for the extra .25in haha ... 05-06 s midpipe plus race header to ep axle back sounds good too

i've always thought it was just a hair over 2' ? 2.25 sounds a little bit large.

i'm probably wrong though lol.

ok..so i traded a k24a4 straight across for my stock motor...i know the a1 is little better..and i know that i cant frenkinstine the a4 but the way i see it i can rock this a4 and since i didnt have to drop no money on it i can put my money onto kpro...so im ordering kpro and in the mean while im doing thw k24a4 swap..so im going to use the rsxs headers and if the midpipe is only 150 new and its a 2.25 diameter then thats the route im taking...any heads up on the swap..doing here pretty soon...this week...

Did some more research on CRSX, and the '05-'06 Type S midpipe is about 1.9 inches ID. Just a heads up.
