I know this didnt survive from the last server debacle...

I developed this piece as a result of several people, including myself, having the idler pulley bracket break off. This can happen as a result of a weak tensioner with a stretched serp belt, and or, when doing a A2 swap or using the A2 crank pulley on the A3 with the stock EP3 serp belt(which is slightly too long due to the smaller dia crank pulley).

I was originally trying to make an adjustable idler pulley bracket, but there already was one out by Hybrid and wasnt the K.I.S.S. answer. I played around with a spare assembly and it struck me, a simple brace would work!

This is the prototype,

I took that assembly and prototype over to a buddie of mine and he drew this on his CAD.

and here is one hot off the CNC machine,

on the assembly,

I did an original run of 30 units and there is one left. I will probably do another run at the same time as the dip stick handles this summer.

I sold them for 40$ shipped I do believe. These are limited production items at the moment, but that could change.

I do have 1 brace left over from the original run.

hey doug, what are the bolt specs for the ones you used? I never got my brace put on, and figured I'd toss it on my brother-in-law's element.

The end bolts that mate to the existing idler bracket are 8x65, and the bolt that goes thru the tensioner is a 8x90.

Honda part#'s 95701-08065-08, x2 and 95701-08090-08, x1

2.67$

I have also gone down to the industrial hardware house and bought hardened (grade 8 spec) studs and flanged nuts of the required length(add 5mm to the length's)

Not sure what the pitch is offhand, the bolts are the same as what is used on the fuel rail studs and intake mani bolts and studs.

Any prototypes/pics of the dip'r?

Is the Xbrace actually trademarked?

No and Yes

I developed the profile of the prototype Dip'r by simply using Bondo to fill the opening where the dip stick goes. Bondo works well for prototyping.

The main body will be CNC machined from aluminum, the shaft portion with the Orings that fits down into the VC opening will be SS. The original dip stick's plastic handle is removed and then the metal portion of the dip stick inserted into the SS shaft and two countersunk screws with red locktite are used to clamp the shaft and dip stick(using existing holes in the dipstick) together.
