nice looking kit, maybe one day ill regain interest in my ep and buy one, a real turbo to bolt in place of the supplied chinese turbo, and a kpro.

until then, http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae326/HOOLIGAN1050/Picture039.jpg

I keep looking at ebay turbo kits and cafe racer bikes like the one above. I cant afford either, but window shopping is nice. Seriously though, based on my small amount of research if you already have kpro an ebay kit isn't a bad idea if you're not afraid to blow through A3s like they were free candy.

been over this plenty times.. the one i got was this one.. i dont think any other one will be as good.... granted i only recommend these kits to those that can fabricate a lil because IT IS NEVER BOLT ON .. lol my turbo seems to be holding up fine after 4000 miles and still spoolin strong.. IC pipes were a lil shitty so im going to redo those soon.. and the wastegate was pretty good.. i used a turbo XS RFL bov instead of the one it came with.

in case u didnt read my post up above.. this is the speedyracer/EMUSA kit.. some parts were custom done by me and a friend that help me install the kit.. he's a fabricator .. gotta say without his help this would have been almost impossible. to say the least.

parts fabbed..
Dump tube
minor fab to IC pipes for fitment with the battery
custom cold air..(they give u a short pipe for the instake.. wasnt good for me)
Oil feed line... bought one from hardware store because the one with the kit kinked easily

if u have the ability to do these things.. or ur gonna pay a shop to do this anyways.. then its an okay kit to have.. havent had issues except for the ones that i knowingly caused.

the dyno sheet there.. 262.5hp, about 235trq .. its actually measured to the wheels even tho it says flywheel.. this was 7.5lbs of boost on a stock k20a3 with 55lb injectors

^^^Exactly. Hit it on the head. Piece together your own, and for a bit more money, you get waaaaaaaaay better parts. And everyone bashes the a3 SO BAD. LOL Its good for about 300. Is that not good enough anymore? Are we that greedy? lol

This is the kit Im running on my car, seems to work pretty good so far. You definatley want Kpro with these kits and a good tune. I beat my on the street and at the track and so far no problems. I did change how the turbo is clocked so mine points up instead of down. The only thing I had to fabricate was the brackets to hold the intercooler and exhaust to fit the mid pipe in the kit. Don't be fooled by the price though, add injectors, map sensor, kpro, heat wrap, gauges, tune and even with an ebay turbo kit its not cheap to boost.

K20a3 Tuned for 10psi but running 7 psi daily with no problems

wat did u make for power and what u run at the track?

No idea on power numbers yet I haven't had it on the dyno, only street tuned. Im hoping to get it on the dyno this weekend at a local car show for a few pulls and eventually a few hours on the dyno to tune it some more.
Track times on street tires haven't been to good, here is a video of the car last time out sorry for the sound it was windy. I just couldn't hook up all day if you listen in the video I just spin the tires through 1st, 2nd, and the beginning of third but once I was moving she took off pretty good. Next track day is June 19-20th this time I'll have slicks and spare axles so hoping for better times.

Save a little money now on the ebay kit, but your gonna double that savings in repairs and replacements down the road.

NICE! I was asking around some tuners in AZ about these kits and they said its not worth it and are bad but now that im seeing that people have them on maybe get it soon and drop it on the k20a3 with light boost.

all the problems i've had were stuff that i did wrong.. like not replacing the clutch, or stuff that just went wrong on the car.. knock sensor went out, LCA bushing busted, ball joint frozen, stuck axle.. lol.. if anything i say the kit brings bad karma.. but im not supersticious so fuck that noise.. notihng at all wrong with the kit for 300whp .. i almost made that on a conservative tune and i gotta say i love how this thing pulls.

This just doesnt seam like a good idea to buy this kit.. if you want more power, buy all the bolt ons you can afford and kpro.. it will be more reliable and still probably faster than most cars you'll see on the road everyday..

I just dont think its worth the risk..some people might though and if you are brave enough go ahead, i just have a firm belief that it will cost more than a higher quality kit in the long run.

if still had the ep with the a3 in it i wouldn't mind getting an ebay kit, but 'd piece it the kit together myself. ebay turbos are ok if primed and you don't mind changing it once a year. get an ebay log manifold, you wouldn't gain as much power but you wont have to risk it cracking compared to the "full race" manifolds they have. also get k pro and make sure the intercooler piping you get is ep specific or a greddy replica, i found that ic piping to be the easiest to install haha

I would piece together your own kit. Buy a precision turbo, they seem to be the best for your money. My ball bearing one was about 1250, and has no shaft play or leaks after a year of beating

8 months 13,000 miles, only issue with the kit was the diaphragm on the wastegate ripped.. replaced that with another one.. 50 bux.. back in business.. my whole thing is i'm not gonna go baller on a A3 motor that's stock.. when i do my K24 i will get the better things
