My CEL has been on for about a month now and I finally hooked it up to a friends scanner. I cant remember the exact code number but it said "oxygen sensor, bank 1, then something else 1." Bank 1 would mean the sensor before cat correct?

Also, if it is, then that hoe is too damn expensive. Is there anyway a defouler/defoulers would make it go away or do i just need a new sensor?

Get the exact code to make sure. And I wouldn't go a month on a CEL before checking it. Do not put a defouler on the primary sensor. You'll really screw up the air/fuel readings and eventually trash your car.

Check all the wiring leading up to the sensor. If the sensor is indeed toast, then replace it. Don't half-ass it or you'll cause more problems then you're trying to solve.

someone told me you can find really good deals on the primary o2 sensors on amazon.com. I think for under $200. Dont go to an autoparts store tho cause they are sooo overpriced. I made this mistake and paid a little over $300 for mine tax and all. As far as the defouler method you can only use that on the secondary o2 sensor. As stated before the primary is in charge of reading your a/f ratio so to put a defouler on it would be nothing less than stupid.

ive got a dcrh on my car right now and i had a shorty header before and my primary went out when i had the shorty. its still out now and the light is still on. im not spending $200+ dollars for it. i got other shit i need to pay for. and why get it now if i do other stuff to the car and it goes out again in another 50k or so.my car drives fine. burns gas faster but o well. and a defouler will only work if your o2 sensor is working.

I have an OEM Primary o2 which I put in just to test it. It's for sale if you need it.

Its your primary 02 sensor. Usually the heater circuit goes bad, theres nothing you can do but replace it. I got a Bosch oem replacement from autozone for $175. IDK where all these guys are paying $300+ for 02's, thats just crazy.

So you put a race header on your car instead of replacing your primary 02? Dude any power you may have picked up with that header is lost and then some because youre running pig rich. You need to check your priorities man.
