So it took me 2 1/2 days to take off a broken axle nut It was so rusted almost imposable to get it off we broke 5 ratchets and bent three pips. on Monday we got the a3 out and the z1 in. I never got my mounts from showstoppersusa so its on old mounts and im gonna have to change them when I get them. The Rsx-s axles that came with my motor were to big it fit in the hub and my old ones were shit. So I'm picking up new ones tomorrow. Also the Rsx-s down pipe and cat was too long and didn't mount to my exhaust so I have to get a custom pips made. Other then that it is all ready to go I will have more to update this week..

Nice k20z1. Just wondering did you modif it in order to fit the engine inside your engine bay? I was planning to get either a2 or z1 but I heard that z1 is harder to put it inside the engine bay. Is that true?

anyway nice work

No the z1 fits in just like the a3

I see. Do I need to get new wiring harness? Basically I can get the longblock with everything except the mount. Does a3 mount work with z1?

Its a direct swap everthing fits right up including the mounts. a3 a2 z1 all Have the same mounts. Theres only some small things you have to change...

I'm still haveing a probly with the ecu idk what it is yet.. I also know that if you have z1 trany that there is a speed sensor probly..but I Have an a2 tranny so I didnt have that problem, I also had to take off the z1 power stearing pump because the ep dosnt need it. were did you seet that thing about the 02-04 ecu replacemet

Sounds like a nightmare swap you've had but at least you got some buds to help you out.

do you have Kpro?

I could be wrong but from what I understood it was a necessity for this swap.

I did some searching because I was shopping for z1 or z3 swap, but ended up going with z3..., so I'm not sure 100%..., but I also read somewhere that you'd need 02-04 ecu/Kpro to make it really work. I also had to get some parts like speed sensor, tranny mechanism, etc. for it to work. Oh, small portion of front/upper frame had to be shaved off to make the intake manifold fit... Anyhow, Good pick up!!!

Hey man sweet swap!
I have a brand new Z1 long block just sitting in my basement.
still need a trans
I was thinking of getting the K20A ITR trans
I can get one with under 40k miles for $2k
is the speed sensor gonna be different or should i just get the A2 trans, does it matter if im using the CTR gauge cluster?
What little things do i need with this swap?

why did you have so much problems with fitment? i have the same swap, and i just re-used my a3 axles and exhaust. of course the plan was always to upgrade all of that when the turbo goes on.

Yo Nyquil I'm really sorry for the delay. The Dakota Digital box will fix your speed sensor issue. See my PM for the other probs I ran into. It's pretty straight forward for the speedo fix. I keep forgetting that all my past posts when going through these things are gone.

hey, i have the hybrid racing speed converter chip, and its doesn't display my correct speed for some reason. is the dakota digital box adjustable? and if so how easy is it to do?

Yes dakota is adjustable. Pretty simple as it installs behind the glove box and you can cal your speedo by yourself (do not recommend) or with a co pilot.

yep, freeway + cell phone + another stock car and cruise control

Yep cruise, freeway, etc. Just make sure to do it at a variety of speeds and hold. The dakota box has been great. Also you can do some calcs with the gearing to rpm and make sure your good.

what ecu did you end up using? im running mine with an a2 ecu and z1 tranny with dakota box. I just used my gps to get my actual speed.

really? I had a lot of trouble trying to get the z1 ecu to stop throwing codes for my evap components on my 03 ep.
Did you throw any evap codes, if so, how did you get rid of them?
