View Full Version : Si really means...

Too bad they locked down the Si thread before I got there...

Anyway, direct from Honda, Si DOES mean "Sport Injection"

Remember those '84-'87 1500 S hatchbacks? S ment "Sport". Remember the '85-'87 Civic/CRX Si? Si ment "Sport Injection"

Up here in Canada and over in Japan? SiR. "Sport Injection Race"

Japan and Europe? Type R. "Type Race"

Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong. The guys at Honda Canada won't like being called liars very much....

Perfect, thanks for the info Hondatech.

Sorry for closing the last thread, but it was getting out of control. Now let's see if we can stay civilized now that the truth is out there.;)

Thanks, HondaTech, for posting the correct answer. I couldn't log on last night, and it was driving me nuts not being able to participate.

Uh Oh, looks like round 2 is set to begin.

grooveline;

He works for a Honda dealership in Victoria BC. He has access to stuff most of us can't even come close too.

Please, no battle today, as the Beatles once sang about: "Let it be".........:)

God

:D Maybe not quite, but thanks for the vote of confidence!

As to who I am? See the www in my sig to get to the website of the dealership I wrench at. I'm a Second Year Apprentice Technican. Here in Canada we've got a four year government mandated program to become a certified Journeyman Technican. I've been in the program for two years, and have worked for the dealership (in the shop) for four. I'm PGM-FI fuel injection certified, and Hybrid drivetrain certified, trained by Honda Canada at the Western Zone training facility in Vancouver (actually in Richmond), BC.

Any other nagging Honda trivia I can answer?

I know this was meant as a joke, (typical American stuff) but BC doesn't get snow for that long, it rains there in the winter instead. Oh and for the rest of Canada, well snow is only here 3-4 months a year. Heck, last winter we only had snow here in eastern Ontario for about 6 weeks.

Gotta go now, it's summer here and my igloo is melting:D :D :D

It's not so much "Sport injection", as it is "Sport, injection". Like I said, the '84'87 Civic hatchbacks with the 1500 cc motor were called the "1500 S", for Sport. When they made the 1500 cc motor with fuel injection for the 85-87 Civic/CRX Si, it was now a "Sport, injection" setup. But since "S,i" woulda looked dumb, it just became "Si"

Kinda like 86-89 Accords could be had as an LX, or an LX-i. The "i" denotes it's fuel injected.
