Here you can see that I needed a little help in terms of camber. This prompted me to get Todd's modified tie rods, 0857's custom steering bracket, hotchkis camber plates, spc front and rear camber kit (Feb 2010). At this time I was still running my skunk2 coiler sleeves. Also got Skunk2 LCA's (tnx to jiyakku for the mad discount for ephatchers)!

See the big difference in camber. Now fitment looks better. Will definitely need an alignment in the future.

On March 2010, I met Wilpezash and he introduced me to CTR bumpers and lips. I went through 3 sets before settling on my current facelift bumper/lip combo. I also replaced my aftermarket fenders with oem ones. Wilhelm made ALOT of money off me, LOL! Also went from 02-03 JDM headlights to Projectors and 04-05 USDM taillights to 02-03 CTR.

My front tow hook was bolted onto the front jdm rebar, I will try to look for a pic for you but there is no need to drill new holes it bolts on just fine
About the rear tow hook, I actually had a shop weld it onto to top of my oem rebar

Turned out very nicely man, really dig the color. (ps I really want a sunroof plug)

Thanks bro, I actually got tired of this color pretty quickly and that is y Im gonna repaint the car once I get some real cheese

kinda close to takata green

I should be da one asking you this question since you are rolling on 24kt gold plated vsxx...ooowwwiiieeee

what was the reason on painting the car the flat green or wutevers when the blue paint seems fine? unless it wasn't

This is actually one of the things that I regret the most about my car, If I ccould do it all over again, I would never have changed the paint of my car unless I have done absolutely everything else on the car
The quality of oem paint is truly remarkable...my old paint was fine, nothing a little buff and polish wont fix
But then again I was bored of blue, and wanted something a little bit different
Like I said, I shouldnt have painted it until I was done with everything else but I would have changed the color anyways

Awesome work man keep it up, tht bish is sick.

Thanks Dude...appreciate it

awesome looking car.. wit the body kit it looked like a GT-I ... lol but now its great looking

thanks bro...funny thing is that the shop owners that painted my car also owned vw's and I think thats y they did it like that

Paint can be changed easy. It almost looks like the flat green primer sealer. Nothing wrong with it! It was sick with the body kit and even more dope with the oem stuff! Please tell me where you got the mirrors and do they still function or manual? Im looking for a nice carbon set and those look even more aero than oem.

For now while its being "built," I don't really drive the ep as much...Plus I have a few other rides to drive. I mostly drive the ep when I'm bored and just wanna go for a quick cruise or something but in the future when and if I get tired of this hellaflush look then I would definitely like to get a less aggressive set of wheels like a 17x8.5 +35 and and MAYBE track this bitch, that is if I still have time in the future. I really doubt that I will have time in the future to really enjoy my car once I get back into the real world and back to doing what I do. My son will probably be the one enjoying the car in the near future.

Plus the reality is that once you get a taste of the power and speed of a bike there really is no going back to a car, unless maybe you got a lambo or ferrari or some high end beast.
The feeeling of going 160mph on a my cbr cant really be duplicated by any mod that I may do to my ep. So like I said b4, the bike satisfies my need for speed.

Im surprised someone out there likes bodykits...It was cool while it lasted but not fun to drive with the kind of set up that I have. Good for show tho.

Mirrors r just for show...can't see shit with them and thats the reason that i got the WINK
mirror. This mod can actually save my life unlike my Spoon REPLICA side mirrors

SSUSA sells them....just hit up Chuck or Rocky

EDIT: I forgot to mention that they are wired up and can be adjusted using your oem power mirror switch BUT like I said b4 you still wont be able to see shit with them

I still have a gallon of satin black paint here with reducer

I like what you have done to the car. Looks good.
Wish I could drive around NY with those CCW rims, but the streets here will destroy them in a week.

I liked that your going a diff route with the car makes it stand out more and the upgrades you have made are very tasteful.

Can't wait to see it in the Midori Green. That was a color I had considered to repaint my car in, But I think that if I repaint it, I'll get the Champ White. Always wanted that color.
That all depends if I keep the car.

Good Luck with the rest of your build.

different is good sometimes, just a little bit a variety in life makes it more interesting

Car looks great!!!

thank you sir

wow uber nice, question though, do your rear tires rub on that little white tab thats between the fender and the rear bumper???

I'm sure he's relocated or removed it..... mine just about rubs and I'm no where near as agressive.

what made you ask that cuz I actually do rub LOL
but only on the rear right passenger side and only when the srping compresses a little on that side

but when I got my alignment, it doesnt rub as much anymore

But tell me more about relocating it or removing it cuz that might be something I need to do

damn... really
is your car aligned? Is your toe off in the rear?
is it just one side or both?

I wonder how others have dealt with this issue

Si Death
05-26-2010, 06:32 PM
no everything is aligned, but still rub on both sides on harsh dips. Rub on the individual sides as the car climbs steep hills or driveways at a diagonal. I dont know how others get around it but might just have to have more negative camber??? that or really stiff springs, I dunno :(

MadLorEP3

dang thats good to hear just cuz I thought I was the only one with this problem cuz of my set up LOL

same exact thing happens with mine but it was only one one side and I found out from the alignment guy that it was because one side's toe was way off
and the side with the messed up toe is actually the side that don't rub LOL

so I guess one solution is to fuck up your rear toe...LOL

this is actually the reason that I want to replace my progress coilovers so I can get a much stiffer spring rate
I have heard good things about the buddy cub RSD's and I think that they definitely alot stiffer but I will have to double check on that

Marc,

I can see it has been a long road for sure. I can feel your pain about the whole wife and life thing but it is all worth it in the end. Oscar Jackson always blasts me saying my wife holds my balls in her purse and I never deny it. Funny thing is that we have alot more in common than you think:

- Graduated from UCLA in 2005 (BA- Japanese + Political Science)
- Currently 30 years of age
- Married for 7 years and proud parent of a beautiful 6 year old daughter
- Full time Graduate Student at University of La Verne (Master of Education- Graduating in two days!) AND
Working full time at Skunk2 (Operations Manager) as the only source of income until my wife finishes Nursing School at RCC (one more year).
- Into two wheels just as much as four wheels

I also see you are on the Sawtelle side (Parking structure was dead giveaway). I lived in the same complex for two years and that is the place where our family of two became three. Good times there.

Anyway, good work. Keep it up.

sick! whens the swap/paint getting done?

haha good question bro, Im really hoping and crossing my fingers that it somehow gets done b4 the end of the summer but realistically if I can get at least the swap done this summer then I will be ok with that

swap is cheap especially since I already have all the parts for it, the labor itself is really cheap as well from Southgate Auto electric that is semi-sponsoring my ride, only caveat is that I gotta put their sticker somewhere on my ride...which I dont mind too much...

Paint is gonna be the really expensive part of the process

Wow, what a small world...very cool
We even lived in the same apt complex...how bizzare (in a good way)

Great achievements so far buddy, you must be very excited to finally be graduating after all these years of undergrad and grad school

I myself have a very long way to go

its nice to hear that you were able to balance family life, wife, kids, school, work and hobbies
thats a pretty daunting task if you ask me
I myself have been and still am struggling with it

I know we dont know each other but I'm very proud of you

Good luck with everything bro and don't forget about the little people once you make it big in this world

Good luck to your wife as well, I didn't mention it b4 but my wife is an RN as well but she's been working for about 3 years now but I've been with her from the start and we've had each others back ever since...

Hey Marc,

glad to see that your K24A2 plan is coming along. You'll really like the power/torque... I've had my K24A2 for a year now... never going back... really like the engine chassis combo. Just some pointers... firstly LSD is essential. Had the K24A2 with to stock EP3 5-speed with open diff, crazy torque steer.

I swapped out my transmission with the new 6-speed from the FG civics, got OEM LSD already, still same final gear ratio. 75mph is @ 3500rpm @ 6th gear, definitely better mileage than before.

I got some e-mails from you before, never seen this thread until this week. I'm surprised that we entered the EP world about the same time...

good luck with everything!

awesome thanks for the pointers bro
I guess I will wait on the swap until I get my LSD then, I was already gonna get either wavetrac or Quaife, I have heard good things about both of them

I was also going to keep my ep3 tranny since my mileage is low and plus I know its taken cared of but just go ahead and add the tsx swap

I was debating between sticking with the 4.7 FD or going to the 4.3FD
So you said you stuck with the 4.7FD how do you like it so far and did you wish you would have went with 4.3FD

From my understanding of the FD, with the 4.7FD it will take alot longer for me to hit the red line and it will be more comfortable and a cruising type of driving

while the 4.3FD will let me reach my red line alot faster and the car will feel more aggressive

Not sure if Im correct on those but am still really debating what type of driving Im looking for

the car is not really gonna be a daily but I would love to drive her as much as I can

If I ever get tired of the k24 I might just go ahead and supercahrge it, no turbo for me though

thanks for answering my pm's b4, I knew I forgot someone...good luck with everything bro

So I will wait on tranny parts b4 I go ahead with the swap so everything can be done in one swoop

I know LOL...to anyone reading this, DO NOT do this to your daily if your concerned about tire wear LOL
If I ever get tired of this look I will most likely just order a second set of rear wheels with a less aggressive offset and a less neg camber

I do wish sometimes that the car has a bit more traction now... i guess the 4.3 FD would be better, haha. And if you supercharge it... yeah, i think the 4.3 FD would be better. Even now completely just K24A2 N/A, at WOT (with the 4.7 FD) car gets squirrely (torque steer). Imagine with supercharger... lol.

Had to intercept right here, the higher the # on the final drive ratio the shorter the gears, hence why Type R have 5.0x final drive ratios.

So if you want to bang rev limit faster and don't care about gas mileage, go with the 4.7

Drove her for a few miles and I was really impressed with how she performed

Its pretty much stock in the performance dept except for the mugen twin loop, dcrh, aem v2 intake, kpro, progress coilovers, progress rear sway bar, type r front stabilzer bar, westend alignment,

tnx for all the help homie...i think I might be ready to get a SC...I know I havent got it tuned yet but instead of spending double the money to tune it twice might as well get the sc first then tune but then again maybe I should tune and see what this puppy can do before I go SC...big problem with me is that Im nvr happy when it comes to my ride...fuck cant decide what the next direction to take for this

I know I want sc over turbo because from my brief reading it seems more reliable, jsut gotta have extra belts around...

things to do: (goal be done by summer)
1) clutch/flywheel/LSD/ 6th gear
2) SC
3) wire tuck and shave bay
4) switch my progress for buddy club rsd
5) Might get a less aggressive offset for the rear...maybe
6) finally and the most expensive and time consuming part...to paint the bitch...
Damn I need to save up...LOL

hope to have her ready for the next eibach, wekfest and nisei but we'll see...

Im selling mine to get the buddy club rsd's
I realize with my 18" wheels there is no need for me to go so low, plus it comes with its own pillowball so I can get rid of my hotchkis plates and add a front strut bar
Thanks, Ryan.

Also polished the rbc

cool, i don't know much about that turbo other than its the same family as mine i believe. what do you think it'll make whp wise?

well Jotech sourced it for me from King Motorsports, bc they are the only distributer of the Mugen stuff here in the states. I think it was like $2200 if i remember right. The quality of the hood, and the cf weave is really really amazing, it really shows!

You'll love the polished mani, looks sooo much better than the stock finish!

looks tits dude. Just curious, thouse bulkhead fittings going through the firewall/fender/what ever it may be, and the 90s, are they aluminum? Only reason I ask is I've seen some guys try and plum brake systems with aluminum and steel fittings, and the pressure from the brakes have caused the aluminum fittings to fatigue and crack/break. I like the location of the ABS modul though, is the wiper motor/arm system still going to be able to fit??

Im keeping the blue and just switch between the two
Im not sure if its the final color yet though...

Im not sure about the wheel yet
I cant find the damn offset that I need
Im looking for 17x8.5 +32

Im looking for volk se37K, or volk GTU or maybe volk CE28
as for the color I dont know yet
Im really bad with choosing colors
what color wheels do you guys think will match midori

mr.brightside
03-20-2011, 02:46 PM
nice choices, they all seem like they would be hard too find...the ce28s probably being the easiest one to find. I think either rims would look sick though but if i had midori green id consider 3 colors, from most like to least...Polished-White-Bronze...but idk since you already did the polish.

yeah I think Im bored of polished wheels at this point
I wanna try something different
I was actually considering bronze, white, mag blue, some sort of flat black, gold (not in order of preference)
but not 100% sure yet

out of the 3 wheels the se37k is my favoritre, the bronze u had on your ride looked sick
I was looking at one last week but freaking lagged on it
and it got sold real quick...

this one is coo too
17x8 +33
if this was 17x8.5 Id jump on it

thinking about running 235/40/17 all the way around

17x8 +34
17x9 +35
I like this one but it would be great to have the same specs all the way around

I would love to go reverse staggered especially with all the ponies under the hood but the problem with this set up is that I will have big as lips in the front...

I like the green vc better. Blue just looks too out of place. Plus if you go green, you wont have to worry about matching wheels. Plus it looks awesome with the ARC plug cover.

MadLorEP3
03-21-2011, 10:14 PM
I think it looks awesome with the arc plug as well

can anyone tell about the difference in fitment between 17x8 vs x9 both +35

Thinking about running 245/40/17 vs 235 on the fronts and 235/40/17 or 225/40/17 on the rears?
Debating between 17x8.5 +35 or 17x9 +35 all the way around OR 17x9 in the front and 17x8.5 in the rears.

In terms of height, I want 1 finger gap or less. Fenders are already rolled (front and rears) and I am not using any fender liners.

Will I have a mexipoke with this setup? I just want to be flush. Dont wanna be hella sunken either.

The Status side mounts don't work with the Buddy Club rails BTW. In fact I'm not even sure what rails you can use in the EP3 that will work with the Status side mounts.

Status was basically useless when I asked them..... now I have Status side mounts sitting around collecting dust.

Full aluminum..its got trumpets on the end of each runners...amazing for boosted cars. Theres a bunch of guys that race in the Canadian sport compact series that run their manifolds on B series motors. Plus, they look awesome..lol

Paint finished. Front bumper still needs to get cut, rebar still needs to get cut then painted, the fenders will be redone as well, jams are painted obviously but I haven't got the rest of the interior painted. Antenna shaved and plugged. Camera phone does not capture richness of midori.
