K so for the last while, my a/c hasn't been blowing cold. I know there are recharge kits, but the manual states to use r134a only, and they only sell r12 here. What should i do? The Honda Service manual says to not mix the two and to use R134a only. How much will it cost me to recharge it at Honda?

you dont have to really got a honda dealer, any shop will do it and its not hard at all to do. Check out a firestone or some other place like that but usually a recharge costs about $80-$130

hmmm..yeah i'll have to call some places and see what they charge. I hope they can use the proper stuff and not just throw some other shit in there. AFAIK R134a is not able to sell at a parts store, only R12, something about the ozone something nother.

wow i am suprised you can still find r12 they stopped making r12 i believe in 96 so it is hella expensive for a pound of it. I know you can buy r134a at walmart or any automotive parts store.

I think you got it backwards. R12 is illegal to sell in Canada now. Every R12 system that needs repair has to be switched to R134A. Main reason, if R12 catches on fire or goes near a spark, it becomes Mustard Gas essentialy. Also, unless you have an ODP card you can't touch, let alone buy real R134A in ontario or Canada. To buy real R134A in canada you have to have an ODP card + a full mechanics liscense. At parts source and places like that, they sell pretty much propane in small cans that does the same job as R134A as a topper up. Or you could just go to a local shop and get them to do a full recharge for like $80-100. Even crappy tire can do it for that price.

EDIT: If you wanna get your ODP card, it doesnt expire and its like a 2 day course the ministry does. Its like $150 or something. I had to do it for school.

Yeah r12 is getting phased out, you can buy some dirt 134a in a can anywhere. Have a shop that's EPA certified recharge it with their 134a
