im buying another motor from a friend that lost compression in a cylinder my plan is to fix that motor and boost it. as of now i have hondata ecu, tial 38mm wastegate, intercooler kit, downpipe, and manifold, im going to start small with an sc32 turbo, and im thinking RC550 injectors, HKS SSQ BOV, but any sudjestions for this build would be nice. (the motor im buying is another k20a3)

what is the reason the motor lost compression in the cylinder?

there could be major issues with the block that you are not aware of.

All im going to say is if you havent bought the turbo already go ahead and get a sc60 or 61. They all use the same turbine wheel in that series, so spool up between the 32 and 60 will be 2-300 rpm different. I went from the turbonetics 50 to an sc44..I wish I had went with an sc61 now lol. GL with the build!

i am seriously considering the sc61 turbo and also i havnt bought the motor or broken it down to find out what is wrong with it. no supporting mods other than listed for now but i am hoping for get springs and retainers and use my "good" motor to send off and sleeve.

not to thread jack, but I have the same q too. Which kit is good to go with with little lag that's not greedy turbo kit or turbonetics. I was thinking peakboost or full race but arent those two in very long back order? And is the gt35r with .82 AR too big and might lag? I was thinking about the gt30r only but on k20 this guy is selling the kit with a 35r.

If going turbo, the motor will have forge pistons and rods. Looking to boost by gear from 10-20+psi.

Where do you plan on getting it tuned at?

qft but if the motor isnt built the a3 will take forever to spool anything bigger than a 20g

dobbs, if you hit 400 whp with an a3 i will be amazed, espescially for how the a3 rods remind me of a toothpick

I agree. Stock k20a3 takes forever to spool if left stock. I switched to a ball bearing turbo and that helped, but it's still like a light switch, on/off. 60 a/r is prolly the biggest u want to go. Figure out what your HP goals and go from there. My current build is based around 500 give or take 50 hp. I'm still using the 58/57E precision turbo I had with the stock a3. It helps to buy a bit bigger than you need, in case u have to reuse parts.

my good friend is going to tune my car and i am completely confident in his ability he usually tunes with neptune for his H's but ofcourse ill be running k-pro. im not looking for something with crazy horsepower right now i would like to be able to boost my stock A3 with practically no worries of blowing it up and im hoping for about 240-250 whp. is that stupid? or easily achieved?

Easily achieved with turbo kit and test pipe. I had 260 hp on a mustang dyno after 10 mins of tuning.

Give me some exact numbers on this one. What do you consider "forever"? 3500-4k? I have an sc44 on a long runner top mount that makes 10psi(target) at 4100 on a STOCK a3. This stock a3 has been making 300whp for 4 years and 103K miles. If you want to talk shit back it up with facts..

Nobody cares what your slow pile makes, as his setup may be different from yours. A top mount will spool faster than a log type if thats what he plans on using. Calm the hell down and discuss :thumbd::blah::violin:

An equal length one, yeah. Better volumetric efficiency. I knew you would quote that, lol. You calm now?

i still dont think it takes forever tho.. im making 9psi @3800rpm and i hold that til 7600rpm.. and the car builds power all the way to the top.

Ive been calm, and your still and idiot. Show me a graph that a log spools faster than a long runner, givin the same turbo.
