so im pretty sure that the a2 does not have the balance shafts like the a3 does. so other than just freeing up weight and horse is there really any other good reason to do this as in any diff. in oil pressure, can the a2 pump keep up better at higher rpms? what else would i need to do this swap other than, oil pump assembly, baffle plate, oil pump chain and oil pan w/bolts all out of an a2.

You're right, the a2 pump can handle higher RPM.

Unfortunately your a3 block cannot, so there's no real point in swapping pumps.

The a3 block with stock internals(other than valvetrain and the oil pump) can handle 8K very easily. The a2 pump is a decent upgrade, you will feel more engine vibes. Now if you start really pushing some additional ponies thru No2 or boost, the internals can start to fail(rods), but in a NA application you will be fine.

Is swapping oil pump and valvetrain really worth it for an 1.2k extra revs on an a3?

Not to me.

well i have an a2 head not on yet. i am boosted now at 261whp at 7psi. my thing is tho i am going to build my block with rods and pistons then put the a2 head on. so after my build i dont know were i will lose power in my rpms 8,9 even 10. i rev out to 8200 now and my power peaks at 8100. been like this for a year now a 103000 miles. so back to what i will need to do? thanks

I would go with a A2 pump, baffle and pan.
