Hi all. I am going to be installing a cigarette lighter in the dead plug next to the shifter and a powered USB port in the dead plug next to the mirror controls. I am looking for an ignition switched power source for the USB port, and a headlight/side marker switched power source for the illumination in the cigarette lighter, I figured I am going to wire the actual lighter directly to the battery. So, any ideas?

I foresee a burned out multiplex unit in your future...

i prepped my lighting mod more than the us government did on D-Day and I still managed to burn up some lines on the multiplex.

Ok, I have been looking this over. How about I wire the usb power and the lighter directly to the battery, and only need a switched power for the lightbulb in the lighter?

what kind of USB hook up are you going to use? USB is pretty low power at ~5 volts.

Also, does your ep not have a cig lighter on the bottom of the center dash?

It started life as a auto usb adapter. i took it apart and am going to hot glue it inside the dead dash plug next to the mirror controls.

it has a power adapter, but I tried to put a cig lighter in it and immediately blew the fuse.

After that I looked at my friend's manual for her car and they were very specific to say not to put a cig lighter in the power outlet for that reason. Live and learn.
