I plan on flushing my tranny fluid and replacing my gear oil. Are there any specific recommended brands you guys use?

I'm using Redline MTL. I felt a significant difference as soon as I changed it.

You'll need 2 qts, but not all of it.

10w-30 or 10w-40?
The asked the guy when I went to Auto Value Parts and he said that it's Honda specific and he could give me 10w-30 or 10w-40 but that would be temporary.
Lol, the guy sounds bsing to me

10w-30 or 10w-40?

I looked up royal purple, and they recommend 10-w30 of their oil to be used in replacing honda MTF.
I feel iffy bout doing so too !

ive read on the s2000 forums guys using GM syncro mesh fluild in there trannys and or mixing with honda fluid. does it matter if you use a good quality fluid?

I too would like to know what weight to use. I tried the lucas 75-90w and it was soo thick I couldn't even get it into 1st gear from a stop. I have the 2003 type-s six speed and used the acura fluid last time. It shifted beautifully for about a month and now it has the lovely 3rd gear not wanting to go in sometimes thanks honda, and it just feels all around choppy. I wonder if I should go the gm syncromesh fluid route. Any recommendations on fluid viscosity?

I've been using the "Amsoil Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid 5W-30" and it seems to work well. 90w is way to heavy.

Let me get this straight... MTF has a weight? I used Pennzoil Synchromesh and it didnt have any weight labels on it.. its working fine, just wondering

Was curious about this myself...hit the local auto parts store, and found nothing but weighted gear oils. So, which one? Service Manual doesn't provide any specifics that I can find...

If OEM fluids are available, I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use OEM on a DD car. Nothing surpasses in reliability and longevity.

Yea, MTF is just really heavy motor oil. For instance, Valvoline sells 75W-90 and 80W-90 and more I'm sure.

I forget Honda's specs, but most of the time, they don't recommend on a basis of weight. For instance, my Scuby just recommends you get a MTF that meets or exceeds the GL5 rating. Each fluid should label its rating on the container.
