So, I'm approaching 75,000 miles on the EP, and my gas mileage has been steadily declining over the past few months. Did anyone else experience this around this point in their car's life? I'm thinking it may be spark plugs or fuel filter, but the plugs are supposedly good for 100,000 miles. Any ideas?

I've seen it go from right around 30 to about 26. More than 10%.

Do a tune up and see if it helps.

Maybe it's the air around here

Seriously though, maybe humidity has an effect. Don't know why it would, off to Google...

Jeez, do you guys shift at 5-6k every shift?

I normally shift before 3k if I can, and last tank I got 36mpg 80% highway. Mixed city/highway, I normally get 31-33mpg. Seriously, the biggest factor in your fuel consumption is the way you drive, so start shifting a tad bit earlier and going just a bit slower and see if it improves. My '05 has 81k miles on it btw.

I'd just do a basic tune up and just replace the plugs and check the valve lash. If it still doesn't improve or even continues to fall, the primary 02 could be dying. I noticed a very gradual decrease in gas mileage before my 02 kicked the bucket.

haha i usually try not to! im usually around the 3-3.5k area when i do shift. and i hate shifting any lower than 3k because it bogs down big time below the 2k mark. and if i shift at about 2.5k, from 2nd to 3rd, ill bog down to 1700 rpms.

With my ac on I just got today 19 mpg. I shift at 2500-3000 rpm sometimes 3200 rpm. I clean my air filter every week, I do my oil changes before it is due by a month, just put new plugs in and still getting shyte for mileage. Could it be the fuel filter or maybe even dirty fuel injectors? I need help quick because I am getting 2 mpg better than a new 2011 5.0 mustang gt but with less than half the power out put. Dang sucks for me.

Holy crap 19 MPG!! thats horrible! I shift around 3..I got nice lil exhaust leak so If I go much over that it sounds like the jetsons car..

Yeah I have an exhaust leak as well which I know contributes dependant on where it is located. But 19 mpg with the ac on that is just ludacris. I may as well just get the new mustang gt 5.0, which is the plan after the career takes off.
