ive got an 03 ep with around 130,000 miles on it and when i shift into second it grinds almost every time and sometimes i cant even get it into gear. and if im just cruisin in second it will pop out almost immediately, also if i shift into third from a high rpm it will scuff into third. wtf is wrong? do i need a new trans?

sounds like you need a rebuild. it may be cheaper to just get the type R 6 speed and a buddy club short shifter that reaches the extra gear.

or, you can go and find a nice rsx type s transmission for half the cost. heh.

I'd just find another EP 5-speed, they're not terribly hard to find nor that expensive.

I'll sell you my old one. It only won't go into 4th, lol. Thats one gear less than yours. Seriously, just find another ep trans, they are cheap and plentiful.

I just got my tranny rebuilt. Had the same issue as u only from 2nd to 3rd. I duno how much a good shop charges but I had my shop rebuild mine and I love the tranny know. Just so u know when u get the syncrhos from honda they now come with the carbon synchros as opposed to the brass ones that were in the car. My shifting is great now. I would stay away from a used tranny just because of that fact, ITS USED, you could end up with the same problem with a used tranny. Alot of us on here have had the syncrho issue, so from my experience I would just get it rebuilt and get those new bad boy carbon syncrhos put in.

Give him/her some viagra and tell us what happens. If that doesn't help you may need t otrade them in on a younger model.
