guy will sell me a 2002 civic si with 70k on it for 6,000. Its in really good shape he was asking more but this economy is a killer. Don't know what to look for also if its belt driven when does it need replaced or tune up etc. Also how long do these run for. thanx

Also were there any changes to them from 02-05

6k seems too cheap for a clean car with only 70k miles. id just make sure he isnt hiding anything. im not sure what you mean by belt driven... if your talking about the timing belt then no, these motors have chains not belts. there were a few changes beginning with the 04 model year which include a switch to 5 lug wheels as apposed to the 4 lug on the 02-03 and also different tail lights.. some other small things but those are the two most notable.

yea when do u need to change the chain etc, also he wanted 7500 but he just had a baby and needs a bigger car aslo he has been trying to sell for like 40 days, so I talked him down to 6k, there are people selling some with 50k for 7,500 around here there are a ton. I can always take it to a dealer to and have them inspect it or something.

usually no need to change the chain. Most of the time it is the TC tensioner that has to be replaced. Overall it sounds like a good deal although that is a little low so be cautious. I would ask if they can produce any service records. Hondas can last practically forever with good routine maintenance.

i think thats an amazing deal for an EP3! i paid 10k for mine at a dealership with 98000 miles. the body is good on it, but a few rocks chips on the whole passenger side and the hood and front bumper deffinately need repainted still from all of the chips up front. but i also paid for a 5 year powertrain and drivetrain warranty, just in case i run the shit out of my car...(which i always doo, since its covered under warranty anyways) :)

that is not a bad deal... i live in tampa... and the most i could get for my civic is $5000 becuase its 02 and has 105k... question about how long the car runs, i got the car when i was 17.. when i got it i did what most teenagers do and redline redline redline the hell out of it....now being 21 i still redline it and the car runs as it did when i got it... the car is durable and reliable like a honda should be....that is why i just wont sell my car for $5000. i love it. theres nothing fishy about 6000 for 72k...what you gatta look for is the mods he has(whether or not those mods are safe.) and how he drove it. also how it runs.

little tip if you buy one... use 30 w oil... even tough it says 20w...and i can help you with anything just pm me

has mentioned the tc tensioner needs to be replace.... this occurs mostly with modified i/h/e cars...

If you do have it inspected, it might be a good idea to have them check for cam galling and the idler/tensioner pulleys for worn bearings.

Man the ep value went down fast. You can probably find cheaper ep's. 7500 for that stock 1 owner seems about right. I traded in my 04 with 48k miles for 7500. I couldnt sell it for my 8-10k price range for a couple of months. Pics up and never got serioius hits on it. I miss my ep but had to do what I had to do.

it's a buyers market right now, people need money.
