Hey guys, i am currently looking to do a battery relocation to the back of my trunk. i dont want to spend alot of $$$$, i would rather do it myself. i plan on picking up the Odyssey 680 in the near future. but i wanna do my homework on this now. What do i need to do to relocate the battery myself?? the 680 is a Gel type battery so i dont need a box with a vent. i am just a little lost with all the connections that i need to do...Any advice would be great

Thanks guys.

The 680 will be marginal with such a long cable length. I went with the 925, I use all high end cable, terminations and components. A single cable with such a small battery will have issues during cold weather starting, dual cables, one to the starter and the other to the electrical system are really required. You will need to fabricate or purchase a battery mount and get it secured into the spare tire well, run the cables to the engine compartment.

Not sure how strict they are where you are from... but in cali when I did the relocation the raceway wanted a killswitch mounted in the rear as well.

Id like one too! Im relocating my stock battery to the trunk. Do i need a box? And what is a vented box? My friends told me to buy terminals to mount on my firewall. So far i have those and im using my 4 gauge wire i had running to my subs for my battery. Any tips?

4gauge will be ok, but you will need two runs of it, one to the starter and the other to the electrical. 0 gauge is ok for a single run.

I'd show you pics.............but I can't yet. Look at my avatar. I have 10 grounds on the engine and throughout the car....even the fuel pump housing

Why do i need one directly to the starter?

The Voltage drop when engaging the starter can be enough to take the ECU offline, a separate cable for the starter allows the electrical system to not see that voltage drop.

thanks for the info on the starter ground

Not the starter ground, but the +12vdc from the battery, the starter grounds through the engine.

And this concerns the poster wanting to use 4 gauge cable, going to single 2 or 0 gauge cable will also work
