P1166 code please help

So i replaced my bad o2 sensors hopin my p1166 code would go away and it didnt. The code is for manufacurer contorl fuel air metering. What could the problem be?

Check these fuses:

No. 14 OPTION (30A) fuse in under-hood fuse/relay box.

No. 2 +B LAF (A/F) HEATER (20A) fuse in under-dash fuse/relay box.

No. 4 ACG (10A) in under-dash fuse/relay box.

Would those fuses being bad actually cause it to malfunction or jus turn the light on? Cuz my car is runnin like shit and gettin horrid gas mileage. So im hoping this will be the fix.

P1166 is "Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction". Never go by the generic code definitions - manufacturers have their own specific meanings for some codes.

In this case the heater circuit on your primary O2 sensor is not functioning. Definitely check those fuses. And yes, the heater circuit going out can cause bad gas mileage - the O2 sensor needs to be heated to function properly, and if it doesn't work then your ECU has to fall back on the rich default fuel tables.

I had this same code about 4 years ago and it was the 40amp fuse under the hood. I replaced it and everything was good after that.

Had this same code a few weeks back...replaced the primary O2 and all was well after that.

Fuses were fine but I did of course check them first since price of fuse < price of O2 sensor.
