Can you guys please tell me what are Best lug nuts and wheel locks for aftermarket wheels? What are you guys using on your car? I know you cannot use the current oem lug nuts on the aftermarket wheels. Im in the process of buying flat black Rota wheels 4x100 and I want lug nuts and wheels locks to go with it. Thanks to everyone in advance for your help and time.

the one's im selling in my FS thread. lol

i had mcgard/gorilla black spline drive ones. they did the job and looked great. but if you want 'best,' there are always ray's lug nuts. they're super light and come in a various colors. there are plenty of other lug manufacturers also. it's more about your own preference/budget

I have no idea what are on my car right now, except that they're the lightweight variety, aluminum, extended lug nuts. And shops that use power tools have managed to round off quite a few of them and even strip one to the point that I had to get the wheel cut off of the hub using a saw. Remember that "lightweight" is really cool until you sacrifice weight for metal hardness and end up paying out the ass for labor and wheels just to service your car (maybe you do your own work and this will just never happen to you, but not me).

Cliff's: I wouldn't go for something solely because it's "lightweight." I'm in the market for some lug nuts that can take a beating.

I love these

http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/1892/20100416125912.jpg

They have a two piece design so the lug doesn't spin against the wheel when torquing it down and they have locks.

i never understood those... at some point i would think that the torque/pressure would stop the spinning piece as well. i digress...

dont waste your money on rays, project kics, etc. project kics are like half the price of a set of rotas. LOL.

gorillas/mcgard will suffice for your wheels. ive had gorillas for 4 or 5 years with no problems. and they're pretty inexpensive for a full set of locking nuts. the key hasn't cracked, the nuts havent been stripped, the color is still decent (for the amt of driving i do...)

I have torqued down and taken off those a few times and they have left no marks under them so I don't know if they stop spinning or not but they work pretty well. It depends on how much money your willing to spend I guess.

you could spend lots o' money and get the rays formula

http://www.fizzautosports.com/images/wheels/FormulareALL.jpg

you need a key to take the top center piece off, then you need another key to get the lugs off...

I guess you are right. I dont really need the best lugnuts/wheel locks for the rims that Im getting.
I just need good quality lug nuts that are inexpensive like the gorillas/mcgard that will do the job. Anyone else uses gorillas/mcgard and which is better out of the 2?

I sorry for being a noob but are the 20 gorillas lug nuts in the link have a built in wheel lock shape on all of them or is it like the oem wheels where you have to get 1 different wheel lock lug nut for each wheel?

Most lug sets will come with 1 locking one for each wheel. Unless you get the spline drives which are all essentially locking lugs.

Cool thanks! but arent they like $250 for those lugs.

I thinking of either metuki or gorilla for my budget. Anyone know which is better? I was told that Metuki uses the same key lock for all of their wheel locks. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

What do you mean by best? In terms of performance or by the looks?http://imagecabin.info/images/index.php/fa65d32.gif

Search around for the neo chrome project kics R40, as you can get them cheaper sometimes... I also have black & neo chrome muteki lug nuts as well. Yes, the reason why I went from gorillas to muteki's to project kics was because somehow muteki's lug nut key works with other muteki and gorillas lug nuts and vice versa. I've tired it...The only thing good about the muteki's is that it is cheaper for pricing and the color seems to last longer and doesn't fade like the rays brand. Also when I was changing my muteki lug nuts to project kics at my cousin's house, he took out a regular socket (forgot which size) and somehow was able to remove 4 of my muteki lug nuts. I was suprised as well as I was holding the original mutkei lug nut key taking off the other lugs. But muteki does not have wheel locks. I'm thinking about selling my black muteki lug nuts with black bull locks and neo chrome muteki lug nuts but not too sure yet. I would recommend Black Bull locks if your going with the black muteki lug nuts. They look similary but the bull lock nuts are bigger.

To me, there is really no different in gorilla & muteki lug nuts...The only thing I like about gorillas is their locks, not the lug nut.

Here are the pixs...Sorry, don't mind the dirt and dust on the rims and rust on the lug nuts and locks...I haven't wash my car yet. The rust can be removed easily but eh, too lazy and thus this is why I got the Project Kics R40 Revos sitting in the house...

They are going to be rota torques so I hope they dont wanna steal them. Its not like $3,000 volks or anything like that.

And thanks for posting the pics of your lugs T_Virus.

I have the rays extended lugs and one thing that sucks about them is they scratch and fade very easy. Also my friend with the same lugs use the same wheel lock key on the locking lug. So that means anyone with a rays wheel lock key will work on all the rays wheel locks. I am not sure about work lugs or other brands. I was actually looking at a set of Blox lugs they are about 60 bucks for a full set.

Wasn't it Charles who almost got his rims stolen as they took his rays lug nuts but couldn't get the lock off?

I think it was. The rays locks look like a normal lug but one lug has a grove in it. My rays key and my friends rays keys were identical and fit both sets of locks.
