View Full Version : Built block, stock ecu?

Alright I'm getting ready to build my block for boost. I'll be leaving the head stock.

My setup:
K20a2 block
Stock crank
JE pistons(keeping stock compression of 11:1)
Eagle h-beam rods
ACL race bearings
ARP head studs
Stock a2 head

I've searched and cannot find the answer to my question. I'm currently running Kpro, but I want to know if I can run this setup on my stock ecu? I plan on running Kpro for as long as I keep my car boosted, but I want to know if the car will run okay when I got back to stock to sell it. I'll be leaving the built block in the car.

A stock ECU will not run that setup at all, you would need to include the Kpro's ECU for the engine to run.

Thanks for the input. Why exactly won't the car run on that set up? I was under the assumption that my build is almost a stock k20a2 with stronger pistons and rods. The timing and fuel management shouldn't need changed.

You could use a stock RSX typeS 02'-04' ECU, but it will be very lean at WOT(unless the stock intake and exhaust are also installed).

But a stock EP3 ECU will not work.

I apologize, I should've mentioned this earlier. The car is a Rsx type-s. Stock k20a2 with prb ecu.

I had assumed that you meant a K20A2 stock ECU all along. I was getting a little confused on why Doug was saying it wouldn't work.

I think it will work fine. As mentioned if you are running a race header and cold air intake you might be a little lean, but I think it will be workable.

Alright, thank you very much.

I had assumed we were talking EP3's..................

You will have no real issues running that engine with a stock PRB ECU.
