ive come across an AEM V2 intake for cheap. my question is....

is there any difference in fitment between the RSX/RSX-S/EP3?

i found they have different part numbers, obviously this makes them different in some way-
24-6105c RSX base
24-6106c RSX-S
24-6108c EP3

ive heard RSX-S intakes are usually larger diam pipes= good
RSX base are pretty close or usually the same as EP3
EP3 engine bays shouldnt be much different than RSX engine bays right?

oh, does anyone know what od diam the stock tb is? the intake is missing the silicone coupler to the TB. will they need different sizes?

pics of V2 installed?

all of the intakes will fit, the type s would deffinately be the one to go with. but i have the aem v2 sri and the piping is ridiculously large. and the piping sizes for all aem v2s are the same for ep3, rsx base and rsx-s so it doesnt really matter.

used, missing the coupler to tb. i looked up the part numbers to make sure it would fit. just have to check it out. guy said it was on his rsx so...
i emailed AEM for a price on the coupler. but i was kinda hoping AutoZone would have something that works lol. Specture couplers and maybe a filter depending on what the one that comes with it looks like. i have on of those filter gaurd things from an old intake- might as well use it to wrap a cheap filter.

Be careful what filter you get so it clears the shift linkage on the tranny. This is a K&N filter that clears perfectly.

The original coupling is not a reducer, just straight onto the TB.

If you have an OEM k20a3 engine and ECU, then your VTEC "hits" at 2200rpm. 2 lobe VTEC (found commonly in k20a3/k24a1 engines) works differently to improve midband power and doesnt engage as high in RPM as a 3 lobe VTEC setup does.

You WILL feel a slight surge in power, and HEAR a difference between 4-5k rpm, but that isnt the VTEC switch point. Thats the 'i' in i-VTEC advancing the intake cam to a higher degree to make more power.

I remember there were some people who went with the type s aem v2 and had a little bit of fitment issues.

I got mine INSTALLED!

i ended up buying it for 60.

+New coupler to TB was like 10 bucks
-I was able to salvage the filter
~and i sprayed it with a "rubberized coating" for 4 bucks ( which actually ended up sucking, i layed too many coats- doesnt dry well and it scratches easily plus smeared while wet. i tried to fix it but it kept snowballing towards worse lol. i figured i would make sure i could make it work before i made it look pretty. i may just heat wrap the smaller diam side anyways, the pretty side will be left exposed)
+ $1 rubber groumet for sensor.

+ sounds awsome!!! really throaty even with the windows up!
+felt a difference is power. it was later in the afternoon and was rainy earlier- real test is a hot day after a drive...

overall worth the 75 dollars. ill post pics ASAP.

just FYI and future reference, the DC5S and the EP3 spec are different diameters. i have owned both and the DC5S one is slightly larger than the EP spec. I can't say anything firsthand about the DC5 base one

its the type s model. part numer that ends in 06 i think.

the filter after a pressure was and re-oil was perfect!

the ugly! worst part was that its the most visable section of the intake! but the rest of the intake came out like the section to the FAR left haha.
this is the side that will be covered with heat wrap.

how it looks overall. before the scratches lol...

I have the similar setup on my 2003 Type-R which i recently bought. Any ideas to make a head shield of sorts to stop the CAI sucking hot engine air.

Cheers

neh, not really. i figure if i get too worried about it i could just get an Ebay CAI. i have thought about wrapping the lower/smaller diam part of it. just cause of the radiator hose...
