View Full Version : Who uses their Ep as their beater?

I was just curious as to how many of you still have an EP as their beater.

I still use my EP as a rental, beater, gas saver, driveway parking spot saver. I use the Trailblazer SS as a daily car. I might get rid of them both and have one sensible family mobile. I am not so sure yet.

The other main use is when we are going to be hanging out in downtown detroit. I would much rather get the Ep all busted into banged up and stolen than the SS.

So anyways, who else is a member of "my EP is my beater" club

I'm still a college student, I'm still poor.

The EP is my daily car. Bought new in 2003, and now just rolled past 45k miles.

I beat lots of things, but I would never call my EP a beater. It is my daily driver.

dd and beater..2 diff things..

Beater you drive off road if need be..barely change the oil....never wash it....intentionally hit shopping carts in parking lots...hope someone hits it...etc etc..

DD is something you still care about but your too busy or too broke or both to make it a weekend warrior/showcar

Beater, no. DD, yes.

After my little funk pondering if I should get rid of the EP, I realized it is far too grand to let go for many reason. I then thought about just getting another car as DD, but even then, the EP could never be a beater.

BTW, I do believe that using "beater" and "EP" in the same sentence is infact blasphemy. haha

I have split dd/beater use between the EP and the Mustang. The GT is a lot nicer and makes for a good 'date car' but the EP gets much better gas mileage and it a little more fun to toss around.

I'd rather see a trailblazer ss get broken into than a ep. Drive the ep everyday.

EP3 is the 40k mile/year daily driver & occasional autocross car,
Cobra is the weekend ride / full time autox car.

Mr Duck and Hat, i agree with you there. I think I agree with you. I never knew how smart duck could be when he wore a hat.

I still do not understand this "honda logic" a cheap slow car is always better than a faster, nicer car"

I love my honda but at the end of the day it is a 4 cylinder econo box with the bare minimum off amenities.

Subaru is no Honda. I owned a STi. They sound good, and Handle perfect, but its hard to make them look low. Hondas look better, and have more style than a Subaru.

I have 65,000 miles on my Ep. It sits in the garage, Ageing like fine wine. God blessed me with a GMC Canyon to daily drive.

My EP3 is my "winter beater"/ daily driver. Its not anywhere close to being a beater. I wash it once or twice a week and clean the rims more than that. I change the oil every 2,000 miles and I have to get winter rims and tires for the car still. Its just funny to call it my winter beater when its nicer than a lot of peoples normal cars.

my EP is my DD/only car. Im a full time student, so I dont have any money to do crazy stuff. About to roll over 100k miles woot! I love my honda, but like others have said, honda's are in no way shape or form defined as a sports car. Its a 4 banger FWD understeer mobile.

Classic!

My Ep got a nice bath the other day, she cleans up nice. She has a couple of squeaks in her and I think she needs some seatbelt retractors but I still love this car. I might make her the primary again

It's all about the love and the never ending things you can do to make it a piece of art. Don't get me wrong I own a trailblazer too and has been a great truck. Not an SS but an EXT with the 5.3 in it, but that is to pull the boat and bikes on a trailer nothing as special as my EP though.

Like 143k. lol Thats another reason I am not turing that into a track car. High miles and I know Jake was going to rebuild or get a new tranny soon if he kept racing it. I already did all that jazz to one car and thats enough for now.

Not to far behind me with a 161k and some change. I remember reading something about changing the tranny. U can never give to much love to any car.
