btw, car is being trailered to Dallas, TX on Aug. 9th and delivered to Jotech Motorsports for pretty much the final big phase in the build, which will include some eye candy, the Full Race turbo kit with the gt 3076r turbo, and some other goodies. so stay tuned for pics !

No offense but if your going to trailer your car all the way to dallas, why not go to T1 and see Tony. Tony is the king around here when it comes to tuning with kpro. Not trying to knock you, or Kenny or anyone over at Jotech...but when it comes to tuning honda's, Tony is the man. The numbers in your sig look somewhat low for a k20z1, assuming that's with bolt-ons.

I'm sure Tony is very good with kpro, but I have a great relationship with Jotech. The years of experience that Jotech has was also a deciding factor for me. My current tune is conservative 91 octane tune.

well i'm having a shitty morning... Kenny just called me from Jotech, he bore scoped my motor today and found some moderate scoring on the cylinder walls. He said that on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the worst) he'd say its about a 3. not at all what i wanted to hear, since i wasn't planning on building the block at all. on the plus side i'll have a fully built motor when its all done. so right now it looks like i'll be getting the motor re-sleeved, new pistons, rods, bearings and a new oil pump. anyways, its gonna be pretty bullet proof now, plus i'll be pushing a little more boost, looking like i'll be in the neighborhood of 300-350whp now.

I should be making right around 300whp on my street tune. Due to the highest octane they sell where I live being only 91 octane we are limited on how much power I make. But with my high boost tune (race gas) I'll be making 400-450whp most likely.

Went to Jotech when I was off for christmas to approve some exhaust changes they'd made. Turns out that the HKS muffler I had originally planned on using was WAYYY to long for my car, it actually stuck out like 4 inches past the bumper and looked really bad! So instead i'm going with a Vibrant muffler because its the only one that was short enough that they could find that would fit. Its still a polished stainless steel N1 style muffler though. Anyways, I took a couple pictures and a video. The video isn't the greatest bc when i sent it from my phone it flipped it vertically for some reason but its good enough for you to hear what my motor sounds like. It did not have the muffler on when I got there but it still sounded great!!! Its very deep and not as loud as my previous Buddy Club muffler thankfully.

You can see the fuel pulsation dampner after its been re-anodized black to match the fuel rail, the dipstick painted black and a black skunk2 oil cap.

I couldn't get a picture of where the wires go into the dash because the windsheild was too dirty for me to get a clear picture. But the holes that were drilled to run the wires to the gauges are fitted with some little custom grommets/trim rings. Then they mounted them in some carbon fiber gauge pods. It looks like they were put in from the factory, can't say enough about the quality of work I've seen from the guys at Jotech!

Today was a LONNNGGGGG day! I'm back in Dallas, and went to Jotech this afternoon, but the paint shop ran behind last week and didn't have my car finished up until after 6pm today. Jotech still has a couple of things to finish up before I can take the car home. Tomorrow they are finishing up mounting the boost controller, and the turbo timer, plus wiring up the turbo timer. I got to drive the car back from the paint shop to Jotech, and I'm rubbing all four tires pretty good, so tomorrow they'll be shaving and rolling the fenders, plus raising the suspension about 1/4" to fix this. The turbo is really responsive and feels REALLY strong! Currently, we have a conservative tune, with 91 octane, on it with 660cc injectors that dyno'd at 309whp. The motor and clutch have been broken in, and I will be driving the car for a few days just to make sure everything is good with it. It will be brought back to Jotech on saturday, where they will be finishing up the rest of the work they lack, as well as a couple things the body shop was not able to get to. The injectors will also be switched out to the new 1000cc injectors and the street tune map will be fine tuned and boost bumped up a little as well. After the street tune is finalized, Kenny will make me a second map for my race tune (high boost with race gas), he said he's expecting to be able to make 400-450whp on that tune!

Anyways, here's some preview pictures that I took at the body shop.

thanks man! check further back in the thread, there's a pic of the intercooler mounted with the front bumper removed. but i believe its mounted to the rebar. as to wether you can use the jdm rebar i have no clue, bc i'm still running the usdm rebar with the ends cut off to fit the jdm bumper.

probably not neccessary, but i've never really liked the way it looked so it was a good time to cut it out for me. plus i wanted pretty much unrestricted flow to the intercooler.

Yea it's the USDM front rebar with the jdm bumper. You just have to angle cut the ends so it doesn't hit the bumper, not hard at all. I got the rear rebar custom made out of square stock, and modified the front. As I understand it the jdm front rebar won't work with an intercooler.

Nice build!

i'll put it this way e85 pollutes more to produce than it does gasoline. plus the burning of e85 isn't that much cleaner, AND the big one, there aren't enough farmers/land to grow the corn, that it would require if everything were to convert to e85, and grow corn for foodstock. now biodiesels are an interesting idea.

thanks for the props on the build!

Did you plan on running slicks ever? The big brake kit would make finding a rim/slick hard...

483 on 91 octane...nice!

The main reasons I'm on e85 were detonation and how much cooler my car runs on it. I may do like what you did and do a low boost tune on pump and save the high boost e85 tune for the track. Did you plan to have them do a tune for race gas too?

yea i have considered running slicks for the track, but as was brought up today by a guy i work with the big brake kit might be a problem to run with 15" wheels. :(

so i'm not really sure whats gonna happen with this yet, i do feel like i need to upgrade the brakes though. i actually was planning on having them do a race gas tune, but since hearing that its making 483whp on 93octane, i really don't plan on running race gas bc i'm pretty sure i'm gonna 483 is going to be enough of a handful. they said i could probably make 550 pretty easy if we convert the fuel system to a return system.

yea i definitely do see the advantages of using e85 especially in terms of detonation issues with performance minded vehicles. i won't argue that benefit with anyone, the product itself and the original thinking behind it just kind of irritates me. but i think if it came down to it, and it was available and the only fuel i could run safely i'd use it

I switched to the RSX-S 5 lug w/brakes and upgraded to the stoptech slotted rottors and their pad kit along with braided lines...stops perfect. Completely different than stock si brakes at 140mph+ stops lol If you wanted to stay with 4 lug, you may be able to re-drill the RSX-S rotors and use the rest, I don't think that has been done...

400-500whp is fun and entertaining to drive...but you get the hang of it quick. Then you'll want 550-600whp lol.

I agree with you on e85 and the idea behind it...not the greatest, but its cheap race "pump" gas for those of us in the midwest :)

Ok, here's the dyno chart for the two tunes 91(current street tune) octane and 93 octane. Disregard the race gas label on the sheet, they just forgot to rename it because initially we were going to do a race gas tune but when it made 483/500whp 2,3,4th gears were absolutely useless bc it just spun all the way through all three gears. the 331whp tune is the 91 octane street tune i'm running right now, and its plenty right now, bc the torque steer and wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd gear can be pretty significant. The car will be going back to Jotech the week of April 12th for the Stoptech big brake kit installation and a few other things. They are also going to be doing another tune, this time we're going to use the Boost by Gear feature that Kpro has. Hopefully I'll be able to make a little more power with better traction and hopefully a little less torque steer.

thanks guys! yea i'd love to go to the Honda Tech meet, I'm planning on going to Cars & Coffee. But all these things are up in the air right now as I had a little mishap this week. Turns out that somehow the ep burned 4 quarts of oil in two weeks. It had a new oil change two weeks ago the day i picked it up. Anyways, i started noticing my oil pressures (thank god i bought an oil pressure gauged) dropping and spiking and found the oil was wayyyy low. By the time I caught it, in one day, it was too late bc I started getting engine knock, and we are thinking its probably a spun/burnt bearing... so its going back to Dallas and hopefully will be fixed asap!

what are the details on the Honda Tech meet?

Updates on this beast?

Car made 436whp in fourth gear with Kpro's boost by gear. Torque steer is SSSOOOOOOOO much better and easier to handle. It's still burning oil, but they found that it's a leak in the head somewhere. It's going back to the shop next weekend and the head will be torn apart and repaired, plus new valves installed.

I had a few issues last week with the car just turning off during deceleration but other than that the car is running GREAT! I raced a 69 camaro with unknown engine specs and was pulling on him really good!

No I didn't. SSR stuck me with it and refused to do anything about it. I finally pulled it off the car past week bc it's slowly turning black all over! It looks like total shit now! So now I'm rockin a sparkly silver one :)!

As you guys know I've had an oil burning issue for a little while now. Turns out it was from a leak somewhere in the head, so I decided to keep driving the car (but constantly checking the oil) until I left for work bc it was going to be about a two week turn around for a head job. Everything was fine until last week before I left, when out of nowhere my exhaust had a funny notably louder tone to it and sounded like I had an exhaust leak. I took it straight home and found a bolt had come out on the turbo manifold, so I replaced that and it took car of the leak but my exhaust still sounded weird. I checked the plugs and found the #2 cylinder spark plug was fouled, so I replaced that and pulled the coil but there was no change in engine noise, so i swapped injectors and had the same result. Next i did a compression check and found that I had zero psi in the #2 cylinder, so the car was delivered back to Jotech on monday and they found this!

Yup thats an actual hole in the stock valve. So the head will be sent off to the machine shop and new stainless steel intake valves, and Supertech Iconel exhaust valves will be installed, and the leaking part fixed.

Glad you figured out the problem
I'm a noob.
What caused the hole I'm the first place?
Since I have turbo as well, how can I prevent that from happening? Should I get Aftermarket valves such as supertech?

well i'm running the boost by gear from Kpro, so it runs a progressively different amount of boost depending on the rpms/gear. but i believe if i remember right its making like 436whp @ around 15 psi in 4th gear

well thats a good question. i have my suspicions that this motor was sold to me from a previous owner that beat the hell out of this motor. also the stock valves were never designed to deal with the additional heat/pressure that comes with the turbo etc. depending on what your power goals are should determine if you should buy valves or not. I personally would say if you have the money, then do it, couldn't hurt.

I was meaning to ask you about this.
I saw one at Eibach that was done by him. It was trashed and the guy said that his car probably hadn't seen 50 miles on the highway.
I noticed they changed their discription on their website (which's still quoted in a lot of places from, "The special Aurora finish will not fade or crack. Heat under the hood will not affect the finish at all," to, "Due to the nature of process, some irregularities is to be expected. Each price/finish is unique no one item will look the same. The more angles and odd shaped a piece is, the better the colors."

IMO, from this to all the repackaging of other people's products, selling them for 3 times the OG price, the dude's a complete joke!

...There! I feel better. lol

I'm not the type that's quick to sue, but I think you should pursue that joke, 'til he coughs something up. :shady:

Well he finally sent me another one, but it has flaws too! He then offered to just finally refund my money and send me a used vc. I just haven't decided what I'm going to do yet.

i'm currently working on getting the money together to completely rebuild my transmission as its slowly but surely going out. I'll be going with Albins helical cut gears, carbon sychros, and probably some new Hybrid Racing shifter cables.

i just realized its been awhile since i updated this... anyways, the car has been in the shop for about 6 months now, no biggie bc i work out of town most of the time. tranny is built with albins gears and 4.38 final drive, hybrid racing shifter cables AND THE NEW HONDATA TRACTION CONTROL UNIT!!!!! I'm pretty stoked about seeing how well that works! The 4.38 final drive is really supposed to wake up the car with the new gear ratios, so that should be pretty badass as well!

I believe you just splice it into your harness then plug the module into the controller
