i have some local selling a k pro ecu, but he said it was for the d17 engine, i was wondering if i could still buy this and use it in my 02 civic si with a k20a3? i dont know much/really anything about k pro and im getting it for a hell of a deal. if anyone has any information for me, it would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Michael

if its coming from a D series motor, it can not be KPro

The kpro he has is not for a d17 its for the k series cause it is kpro. The em2/es1 can run kpro in there car with the d17 but they have to get a k motor ecu and have it sent in, they cant send in there ecu expecting to get kpro with a d series ecu.

^agreed.

Sounds a bit sketchy.

"The stock D17 ECU cannot be converted to a programmable ECU. A new RSX-S ECU or donor ECU must be used. " - Hondata

"The K-Pro ECU will not work on automatic D17 Civics." - Hondata

AND MAKE SURE!!!that it is one of these ECU's

2002-2004 RSX Base 5 speed (PND -A0 ECU)
2002-2004 RSX Type S 6 speed (PRB-A0 - ECU)
2002-2004 CRV 5 speed (PPA-A0 ECU)
2002-2005 Japanese DC5 Integra Type R (PRC ECU)
2003-2005 Japanese Civic Type R (PRD ECU)
2002-2005 Civic Si (PNF ECU)

If it really is kpro then you can use it like it says on the web site of hondata that if they swap the d series for a k series it tells them what to do. I am pretty sure if it was kpro then all you would need to do is upload the k20a3 base map on to it and it should run.

Hey bro, I'm local to you. I have Kpro myself. I can come with you and verify that it's a Kpro ecu and from what car.

okay he said it came out of his em2. so im not to sure how it would ever work in my ep3? but ok lowep3! he said hes from pittsburgh so ill have to get him to meet me halfway and ill see when he could to see if you would be able to go. and is there a way for him to send a picture of the k pro to me that shows what type of ecu it is?

yes, get him to take a picture with his name on it showing the serial number and the usb port in the ecu, then shoot hondata an email and see if it has indeed been k-pro'ed by them.

yes the d17 can have kpro, it doesnt use the d17 ecu...it uses a donor k series ecu
http://www.hondata.com/kpro_d17.html

but to answer your question no it cannot be used for the kseries motors because they modify the donor k series ecu...more info is in that link

Ok sounds good. Like everyone is saying, you can have im take a picture of his ecu with the cover off. If it has been Kpro-d you'll be able to see the Hondata circuit board that has been soldered in; not to mention the ecu casing being cut to fit the usb cable port.
