I have been doing some thinking and this is what I have come to.

An entire swap consisting of a K20a2, tranny, ecu, and all the other crap involved will cost you about $4500 if not more.

If you are to swap some other things like a K20a2 head, crank, ITR pistons, connecting rods and ecu will be cheaper.

Head from a dealership- $1200
crank- $500
ITR pistons-$400
ITR connecting rods-$250
ECU from dealership- $500

Keep in mind that you will have your close ratio 5 speed still. With an extra 1k RPM we should getabout 63 mph out of 2nd and about 143 out of 5th. Do you all think that are tranny is strong enough for an extra 50 hp?

This is the route I will go. Any thoughts?

You're at $2850.00 plus the cost of labor to build it. I've seen a complete K20A2 for $3,500.00. I don't think you'd be saving anything.
If you want to go a low cost route, just do the head & ECU - and the labor costs should be a lot lower to just do the top end. You might lack a bit due to lower compression, but it could probably be done for half the cost of a complete K20A2 swap.

you'd be better off doing the motor/tranny/ecu swap because its all balanced that way plus it is not gonna cost much more if ya shop around for it.

I agree. A complete swap would end up being a little more, but would be a better starting point and easier on the labor.

I bought my K20A2 swap for $2800. Less than what you are thinking at $2850 for just parts...and I got a 6 speed.

See my other thread for A2 swap info.
