I was racing this v6 camaro, and from 40 miles to 2nd gear he was pulling on me, twice this happen. So i get back to my house and theres this weird smell coming out of my engine. The hose from the injen cold air to the head was disconnected. Could that be the reason i was not getting full power?....ive beat v6 camaros before i got my injen coldair, hp header, and custom exhaust...please tell me that made me lose power....??? thanks

I don't think that would make you lose power.

I think it does! when i poped the hood i gave it a little gas and you could feel the air coming out of that hole. Only a little air was going through my throttle down my header and out my exhaust. ...there has to be some power loss!...

The tube just serves to recyle the air the from the head back into the combustion cycle for better emissions. It has nothing to do with making power.

If you have an intake and you drill a hole in it,air is going to escape out that hole, so i think there would be some kind of power loss. Its kind of like half of the air is going into your throttle and the other half is escaping going out of the intake.

this just is not true. Your intake will get air from the easiest place
it can. A hole would help in flow. (Not escape)

What was described was a
breather hose that was not connected. totally diff. Your engine
needs that breather hose connected to your intake to provide
the feeback to your TB and intake manifold.

Now if the hole was really large, especially using a CAI, you will
loose power. I noticed that when I took off my CAI completely from
my TB on the DYNO, I lost power. The best I can attribute this
to is poor feedback and no acoustical benifits that the AEM CAI
is tuned for aside from grabbing warmer air. hth

I suspect that there was no power loss due to a disconnected
breather hose.

Dude...you lost.

Seriously though, you should not lose power. Air is not escaping out of the pipe, air is escaping into the pipe. I would be more worried about the weird smell.

yeah did you ever figure out where the smell was comming from?

The weird smell would obviously be from the disconnected breather hose.
