View Full Version : Your Feelings On 18in Rims on an EP3

So at this point in the game I am still looking for rims. I found a nice pair of rims that are 18 in 5spokes. The seem pretty nice and I can get them for 200. I just want to know if 18s are too big or not, so if you guys have pictures of ep3s on 18s feel free to post them. I'm also dropping my car of progress springs soon if that helps at all. Also, any offers on for sale rims are welcome, my mind is always open to options. (Six spoke is the preference and nothing rediculously over priced)
Thanks guys!

Some people do it, and pull it off well. Others have done it, and it looks completely whack. I think alot of it has to do with the wheels you choose, the fitment, the rest of the car, and how low you are. Personally I have always thought 17's seemed just about right for the EP.

Buy them for looks, hate them for life. 18" wheels, especially on a lowered ep, are not only to big, but you will hate the change in ride quality. Save your money and buy some wheels that you really love, rather than what's a good deal. <<<TRUTH

He has 18s and I love them. But it all depends on the wheel

Thank you very much for your true words of wisdom. 18s are too big... I want either 17s or 16s but I saw those and thought who knows.
So with that said sleepy, what were your old rims? I know you are getting new ones.

Yup I'm glad I didn't got with the 18s, the look too big for me plus I don't want to have to buy a camber kit (yet) and flare my wheel wells haha.

If you're considering 18's I'm assuming you like the lo profile tire look

I think the 17's are the best fit for that
I personally like a slightly beefier looking tire.
I dig 16's
BUT it depends on the wheel
I go back between 17's and 16's

15s = Dinky...c'mon this aint no Miata.
16s = Looks good, perfect all around.
17s = Acceptable, can look super sick when done right.
18s = Whoa your getting off track now...
19s = Oh my lawd...
20s = WTFBBQ, damn you need to get shot. (ok not really but goddamn)

*I think EP3s look best on 17s.

18" should be the farthest you go assuming you can pull it off. Anything bigger looks funny.

17s are the biggest you should go assuming you don't want to run 35 profile tires. i have 16s and i wish i had 17s again. im an idiota

Oh shit haha. Fuck I read that too. I thought this was another thread.

Anyways. I'm settling with 17s. Do you need like modifications on getting rotas with racelands?

i did. i needed to shave off 2-3mm of the front caliper brackets. but the other user on here with the bronze variant did not. im not sure if maybe i have different calipers? or maybe his wheels were labeled wrong, maybe mine were. but either way its notthing a cut off wheel, some goggles, and an hour of your day can't fix. and ofcourse a fender roll was thrown in for the rear. lol

edit: none of this has anything to do with what coilovers i have, they dont effect anything except maybe needing some more camber in the rear because they're pretty bouncy.

Doesn't look like a headache.

it was worth it to me, i really like the wheels but if i could go back i would go with the +20 variant. the reason i went with +10 is too long and complicated to explain but it wasn't strictly for the hellaflush movement

get them in white, rick ross colorway FTW

I just don't want them to go outwards too much. Pretty much wanna keep everything kinda equal or inside the fenders.

i don't have any good photos of my fitment but the fronts look like if they were +20 they'd be near even with the fenders. i really really like the front fitment, rear pokes pretty hard with the +10 and +-0 degrees of camber

this is the other kid with the bronze ones. as you can see from the one head on shot the fronts don't really poke at all.

+10 in front and +20 in the rear would be awesome. buy them in +20 and i'll trade you two of my +10s for two of your +20s :tehe:

You need the right type of rim too make 18s look right. The right suspension drop and body kit helps the bigger rims. I have seen a EP dropped with 19s axis rims no body kit. Looked hot but no meat on the tires. You probably better off with 17s.

Only reason i put 18s on my car was because i had them left over from my last car...was too lazy to find some 17s...so i put them on..made them work...some ppl love them some ppl hate them...get back to me in another 2 months when i go even lower than i am now and see how 18s would look then

They've just ALWAYS looked goofy to me. Some styles of wheels (big lips, mostly) are going to get away with it a little more, but I'm still going to prefer 17s in the wheel wells of any EP. The amount of tuning camber and drop just to make up for how goofy 18s look in the first place seems like paddling upstream when you could've just gone with 17s in the first place.

these are my axis halo wheels 18x8.5 with a 1.5 drop on s-tech's. some people tell me they look good, others say they are massive, i thnk if i could go lower it would look alot beterr. but i rather go down to 17 and get some more meat on my wheels :)
