That's just appropriate. I've asked the same question and a reflash was the answer I got, mostly.

if you dont plan on doing much in the future its good, plus you can upgrade to kpro if you ever decide to do more like i did. If you have a raceheader, exhaust and cai than its a good thing to get...you will feel the increase and its at a good price now...your car will be down for a few days as you have to send in your ecu

Not in the market ATM due to new semester starting soon, but wondered about this before.
Everyone mentions the standard I/H/E setup benefiting from the reflash.
I'm running a Comptech Icebox, `05 Type-s headers/cat/midpipe, and el cheapo OBX muffler. Not exactly the CAI/big exhaust that most are running, so you think it would still be worth it?
Just curious what you folks think.

I have CAI/RH/E and honestly for the money, reflash > all those mods for the price. I love it with those same mods you guys have. The powerband is so much smoother than waht the stock ecu did after the raceheader install. You feel the difference every time you drive instead of like having the RH where you get kidna used to it. I'd definitely recommend it with just i/h/e, it really opens those up, its a great value and its good if you ever decide to upgrade to kpro.

"Plus if you decide to upgrade to Kpro, it's cheaper cuz they deduct your purchase off the reflash."

-Someone said that, don't quote me on that lol.

I guess I'm just emphasizing that part "its good if you ever decide to upgrade" incase he does not know.

supporting mods? i/h/e? or just stock motor?

jed_averill
08-19-2010, 11:20 AM
I saw the graphs from hondata and they are not that much of a difference torque/hp wise on 91vs87 octane. The biggest thing though, which makes the reflash so good of a value, is its extended rpm limits; 7800 rpm I believe. Plus smog doesn't change: "Smog testing shows no measurable difference from stock."

well even if it nets 10 hp thats not bad still and the added revs will rly help with less gear changing

well its not the extra revs that is "added".
When you get the RH or if you have it already, you've noticed that the power band is a lot mroe rough now, it seems like the car hits a certain RPM and kinda goes crazy from there til you shift.. With the Reflash I noticed the power band is smoothened out so much better, and the "added revs" are in the powerband it'self, so its not like you're winding your car out and like 2,000RPMS ago you're going pretty much the same speed (not getting HP gains after a certain RPM).

The reflash is what the ECU should've came stock. It would've made the car a lot more fun to drive, and probably would've helped the sales some. Its completely OK to go the 7700RPMs on stock valve train but Iwouldn't push it past redline every time I drive.

is the reflash just one process or for example: if i have a intake and get an exhuast then get reflash, would i have to send it in again if and when i get a header?

I believe so. I know you tell em what your mods are but, I absolutely would not resend it in a second time if you got a header. I'd just mark down on the paper you get that you already have one, but I doubt the reflash is significantly different (if it is different at all).
Oh and I remember when I got mine someone said on here if you reset your ecu it wipes it away or deletes the reflash. Just to save anyone any worry or whatever, I've reset my ecu like 6 times since I've had it, with both the CEL Reader and taking the battery out for longer than an hour at a time and it does not delete or go back to stock tune. So, just to save the worry or frustration there, it doesn't. You have to send it back to Hondata and get it cleared off to do that.

I say go for the reflash it is worth it. I put down 165hp 132tq with Comptech Icebox DCRH T1R mid pipe stock axle back and reflash. With a CAI and a full exhaust i think i could have gotten close to 170hp

Is that with you removing and reinstalling your ECU? AJ racing wants like $700 but that includes install and a loaner ECU and I was debating that myself.

Aliperon
08-27-2010, 08:04 PM
ya thats me taking the ecu to them no loaner and waiting, so ajracing probly wants the money for the easy labour and loaner obviously

install? you mean put in 3 10mm bolts and plug it in? yea thats so hard

I think the hardest part is trying not to break the steering column cover tabs for the immobilizer.

I live in Vancouver and sent mine off on friday.
AJR and G5 wanted $380 to do everything.....but I just got it off Clubrsx and did the shipping etc myself. $30 via Canada post for 2 business day delivery +$700 insurance. If you're daring its only $24 without ! Unfortunately I used a US post office place as my address, and Hondata will only ship it there so I have to go down to pick it up. It's really messed up because CRSX has free shipping, and for the reflash theres nothing to ship, but if you have a Canadian address they charge $30+ to email you stuff??

If you plan to do the same, you can just use thelettercarrier.com as your shipping address and pick it up there. They charge $2 to hold your shipments. I've sent lots of stuff there from wheels to brakepads so its legit. You should see the amount of tires people ship there and bring back.

Everything else stock, what sort of HP and torque increase would you be looking at?
