when i was there i spotted 5 ep3-r all 01-03. 1 in yokohama, 2 in tokyo, 1 in narita and 1 right in front of the honda manufacturer in sayama. i couldnt take any pic becuz they were driving on the opposite side.

My guess is the whole emissions thing. Instead of them throwing a $2k engine in it to keep up with emissions they just sell 'em and buy another car instead.

I read in super street that import tuning in japan has delined because of all the taxes they need to pay to have a car. They even need to pay a gross vehicle weight tax. All the younger teens and adults are into video gaming and shit like that..

that's funny..while I was stationed there I saw nothing but skylines, supras, fairladys, as well as an occasional type r..what was cool to see was rx-7s..those guys could tune those for real out there..You gotta get in with the crowd tho..half the time they didn't want white guys hangin around because we would steal all their girls lol..any dude could get their hands on a dime out there..I mean anybody lol
