Getting an ep3. Need advice and help!

As you can see I`m a new member and I`m really enjoying the site, its really helpful. First of all I`m from a small island in the Mediterranean, Malta. Every teenager here is obsessed on Honda`s especially integras and civics. In 3 weeks time I will be getting my first car (im 18 years old almost 19). I`ve changed my mind alot and went through alot of cars including a dc2, dc5, rx8 and a celica. I`ve been searching for a car for about a year. The thing is that I will be using this car as an everyday car so I can forget the cars I just mentioned and I don`t have a garage to keep it in for now (car theft is not such a problem in my country). 2 weeks ago I went to an autodealer to ask him about the dc2 and whilst he was showing one to me I saw an ep3. I only saw ep3`s in photos on the internet and it immediately caught my eye when I saw it in real life. I really liked it and ended up taking it out for a test drive. It definitely looks different in pictures. The thing is.. we all know its not a slow car... is it good for a dd? I know gase mileage is about 28mpg.. but since it`s my first car is that good? (i get a stipend of about 150 euros a month, university FTW :D ) . Also, is it reliable? Does it have a good resale value?
I`ll probably be getting one from an auction in the UK, although we didn`t find anything yet :S
If I don`t find anything up till 3 weeks, I`ll go to the uk myself to buy one from an autodealer or private. Any advice?

The bottom line is that it would be a great first car, it's a great daily driver, does pretty good for gas mileage, carries decent resale value, and is super reliable.

All things considered though, it is a relatively slow car. I just got rid of my EP3 at 180000 miles and the car delivered much more than I could have ever asked for, except for high performance. In my opinion, if you think you will be more interested in a performance vehicle down the road, you would do better to look at the DC5. If you are just looking for a great daily driver that you spend a few dollars here and there and mod and have fun with, the EP3 is a great car.

Well, I`m not looking for a super fast car, in fact im thinking of maybe getting the ep2 instead of the ep3 if the price difference is alot. 197bhp is enough for me :). DC5 are way out of my budget and 225bhp is too much :/. Thanks for your quick reply.
ttttrigg3r, yeah its the type r. If I go to the UK to get it from there it would cost me about 9-10k euros. If i get it from an auction I don`t know but hopefully cheaper xD

Black :p.. always wanted a black car. Yes definately :), IF i`ll get it. Already know what mods im doing : K & N typhoon CAI intake, Tenneby or HKS lowering springs (will move onto coilovers in the future maybe xD), Greddy or Spoon N1 cat-back (will upgrade to exhaust manifold and header later on) and viper security system with remote start.

Resale value is pretty good
And if you ever get in an salvageable accident, which you wont, you can part it out
and us stupid americans eat that edm and jdm stuff upp

Reliable, It's a 7th gen so it's nice it's a newer model
It's a tiny bit more rare, around here
and you said it's even moree rare where you are

Ofcouse I care how much bhp it comes with :p... but theres a difference in going to an insurance agency and telling them it comes in 197bhp stock rather than 225 :p. If i didn`t care I would get the ep2 which costs less and is 115bhp. Here you get a girl not only by your looks but by having a 12 second car haha. Yeah its quite modern thats one of the reasons why I really like it :).. alot of people TRY going old school jdm by getting ek9 etc. I said theyr very popular in my country i think you misunderstood me ;p.. especially the ep2.

I don't think you would be disappointed at all with what you are looking for. The EP is a great DD as long as you don't buy one that has been heavily modified (in someones garage with no experience) by the past owner.

the DC5 is the Honda Integra..and they are type-rs in the uk. id say get the DC5, it isnt really that much faster than the ep3R

go ahead and get the ep3...when i bought mine..i was planning to get a dc5r..but when i got to the showroom...i saw my ep3.. and not once i regarded it....

acura rsx is the same as the honda integra dc5.. and yes its a type r .. it has a k20a too. True it`s not much faster but i`ll be using it as a dd and the dc5 isnt really a dd :/.
