most of you know, but some may not. My Ep was totaled this past spring. I picked up a Legacy GT auto and have been driving it. its not a bad car, it just isn't me. my wife likes it and wants it. our 15 year old DOESN'T want my wife's altima. if I build something for me, cindy gets the Legacy. we then sell the altima and get the kid something that she will give a damn about. I've always liked the civic wagons, and a plan was hatched between myself and Dobbs02Si at import alliance this summer. he knew where a dead wagon was, for fairly cheap. I looked at it, we went back and forth with the owner, and I picked it up for a little more than I really wanted to, but its an extremely solid car. I poked around at the usual honda rust spots, and didn't even find any surface scale. yeah, I wanted it.

its a doo-doo brown 1990 dx, auto. I had a passenger side mirror and 5 speed pedals sitting at my house the day before the deal was finalized. the first night, I started disassembly while dobbs (shiver) was planning out the engine and wire tuck.

when I say this thing is solid, I mean SOLID!

we did a little clean up under the hood. ain't no reason to get dirty when we work on it...

http://a.imageshack.us/img843/1723/civic6.jpg

a spare motor was set in place for mock up of everything. yes, that is a 2 barrel holley 350 carb sitting in there. :mangel:

http://a.imageshack.us/img821/4469/civic5.jpg

all the trim was pulled, in anticipation of the color change. yes, at this point, the color of choice is......tangerine.

http://a.imageshack.us/img828/8229/45183126.jpg

the front crossmember is in place, awaiting the heim joints..

http://a.imageshack.us/img375/397/75365866.jpg

the wires are pulled for the tuck. notice how much room there is for the top mount manifold. can ya say BOOST?

http://a.imageshack.us/img90/1457/23149505.jpg

the dash is pulled for wire placement, and color change. the doo-doo brown interior needs to go too.

thanks yall. I just hope it turns out like expected. it won't be a quick build, but its gonna be fun. dobbs is amazing with the ideas he comes up with! every work session, he trips me out with the solutions that he pulls out of his head. there is no way I'd undertake this project without him...

Yeah, thats MrM3's. I'd love to do a sliding rag like his, but its not absolutely water tight. That is one of the nicest wagons I've seen!

Bahaha I love the idea of you two mad Honda scientists just hacking away at a new project out there. Glad to see you've come back to the light so soon!

yeah that roll back is sweet, but that would definetly make it a garage kept summer cruiser. A civic wagon was what I was looking for recently when my accord wagon died(really liked this car also) but came across a really nice 2001 odyssey for $6000 instead. None of the wagons I was finding were in good enough shape (yours is in great shape!). I really like the odyssey though, it's been so useful, versatile, and comfortable. Anyway, keep this build progress coming and here are a few more nice lil'wagons :mcool:

can't wait to see the finished results! an old guy, like grandpa age, down the block from me had a civic wagon just sitting in his garage for the longest time. i'd pass it everyday on the way home and the car was always clean. don't know what he did with it, but it's no longer there. he now has a corolla O_O. these wagons came in a 4wd version, right?

oldschoolimport
09-03-2010, 12:41 PM
Yeah, you could get the 4wd with an auto or 5 speed.

more work on the crossmember.

the heims are 3/4", so a 3/4" bolt was drilled out and tapped. that way, the 3/4" heim screwed onto the torsion rod, by way of the bolt/spacer.
http://a.imageshack.us/img843/2736/session6003.jpg

the stainless steel high mis-alignment spacers are 3/4" to 1/2" and 2" wide.

http://a.imageshack.us/img820/736/session6005.jpg

the tabs were cut and tacked in place.

more gussets and triangulation is planned, we just ran out of time for this night.

I picked up a set of shotpeened LS rods with ARP hardware this week.
