Advice on wiper arm removal!!!

02 EP3 that has some shoddy looking wiper arms. I figured, no problem just remove, sand, and paint. Well big problem, I can't get the damn arms off. I even bought a cheap generic puller type unit from a local auto supply store but it won't fit under well enough to get the spike on the wiper stud. Does anyone have any advice on how to get these off. I have sprayed with some penetrating fluid but I doubt that will help much. I don't want to destroy the trim surround by prying against it.

take the nut off, just wiggle and bang on it with your hand and it will come right off...try banging on the end furthest away from the nut, takes some elbow grease. Also try folding it up as if you were changing the blade and than push down and wiggle
