anyone know if i'll have any clearance problems, or any other problems, if i ran their sc on a k24a2 swap?

you would have to modify your rad support slightly but not drastically. the CT kit is actually angled up and back a little bit, like a cross between the jrsc setup for the ep3 and the dc5, so it may fit fine! youll need the tensioner for the 06-10 Si because of our electronic power steering and what not

well thats a damn good way to make use of it! my buddy had a comptech (ct) blower dissassembled and all mirror polished on his FG2:

im interested to see photo's of your setup complete, the CT kit is very oem looking, where as the jacksons look slightly aftermarket

I would bet that you will most likely have minor hood clearance issues.
Be ready to slice up the hood liner a little if that's the case.
Just expect the worst and you'll probably be ok.

I do find myself saying that a lot lately.
On a sidenote, I think i'll need your help figuring out where to install some Kenwood 6x9s in the EP.
I've had them sitting around forever only because i haven't thought of a good place to install them (if there even is one).

same here. I'm not so concerned about a radiator support. A new one can be fabbed easily and/or supports can be welded to the hacked up oem one.
My concern is the Passenger Headlight!

this. iirc if you want to use the dc5 spect jrsc you need to trim the back cover of the passenger side headlight. i'm almost certain you will have to do something similar. you should contact mugenreplica.

you don't need to mod the headlight I have the dc5 JRSC on my ep3 only had to mod the radiator support a bit for the bypass valve.

Side note I was thinking if I used a half radiator and mounted it on the driver side and made up my own rad support I'm sure a twin screw could fit.

Canuck: can u provide a photo to show it clears?

you have a k20 or k24? i can't remember. i don't know if the 19mm higher deck of the k24 will be a problem.

Ya I'm not sure if the extra height would cause problems but I still have the k20a3. If the engine isn't rotated forward anymore than it normally is I wouldn't see a problem.

Depending on the pulley size you use, you may have to bend the headlight support a bit, on the 4" I did but 3.4" clears fine. If you still have A/C using EP3 lines it comes pretty close but fits I even managed to fit the aftercooler on with the A/C line that runs under the manifold.

the comptech charger sits differently from the jrsc so i guess we'll see if we run into any problems with the headlights. i ordered the edm hid projector headlights from wayne so i don't know how much space we'll have with the hid kit installed too. i'm not too worried though as my friend is a great mechanic/fabricator. i'm gonna be running the same pulley i was running on my tsx, a pulley boys 3.15 pulley which is good for about 10.5 psi.

height isnt an issue--like canuck said clearance on the passenger headlight support is the big issue. on the radiator support i have probably a quarter inch more clearance than i did with the rbc. this is all on a fg spec jrsc :thumbu: mind you its not all done, but the manifold and autotensioner are all in  ill take pics when im not so beat from trying to get to that bottom middle bolt :mtongue:

lldiesel386ll
02-25-2011, 06:03 AM
as an update, that clearance is an issue due to the hood prop; once that is removed (good time to do the hood strut mod :thumbu:) i have a good inch of space to work with i would say. also, should you be using the new si-spec superchargers you will be needing a karcepts adapter, due to the different bolt patterns of the DBW throttle body and the mechanical throttle body (rather obvious in hindsight, and rather stupid, now that i have to wait to pick one up :mtongue:) the ground that would mount to the original autotensioner needs to be relocated as well, since the bracket on the idler pulley it normally mounts to is no longer there. i am still trying to determine a decent location to place that.

lldiesel386ll
03-03-2011, 05:35 PM
so in case anyone was wondering, an rsx spec sc is definitely the way to go. should you consider the new si's spec sc, keep into consideration the dbw throttle body. idle air control is managed by a whole different set of sensors than a mechanical throttle body, so the sc inlet doesnt have a port for the IACV. should you go that route, you either need to convert the snout to rsx spec, or get an rbc adapter to get machined for that outlet or an rrc adapter. if you get an adapter there will be clearance issues with the iacv and the bypass valve, so you'll need to either bypass the iacv or run a rotation plate: k-tuned would be able to provide that. besides that everything is hunky dory :thumbu: my setup is in--cant wait for my dyno time come april

It's my old TSX kit and yup TSX has dbw!

just note that if you dont have a throughway for your iacv that you will have idle issues. as i mentioned in an earlier post you'll either need to find an sc inlet from an rsx to allow that provision or you'll need to source an rrc adapter or machined rbc adapter to both our iacv's functioning properly and to be able to bolt our mechanical tb's on :thumbu:

tsxdriver
04-19-2011, 09:24 AM
^youre referring to the karcepts adapter, right? If so, yup, I've already got that ordered! Thanks!

lldiesel386ll
04-19-2011, 11:09 AM
that is correct, sir--you can either order a karcepts kit or you can try to source the parts from ct engineering to retrofit everything on the sc inlet side to rsx spec. the first option will get the job done (what i did) while the second option will be cleaner. its all your call of course. keep us posted on progress

what year is the new motor from compared to the one in the tsx and how many miles on each?In this case the motor doesn't really matter. They're both the upgraded K24A2. The motor in the civic is an 07 with about 21K miles and my TSX is an 06, and at the time of installing the sc it had about 9K miles. I only ran the sc on the TSX for about 1K miles cuz I hardly drove that car. When we pulled the motor for my Franken K, it only had a little over 10K miles on the odom.

I really think it has to do with the new auto tensioner setup. On my TSX I wasn't getting full boost from the smaller pulley cuz my belt would jump. The TSX made 275 whp and 212 wtq. Additional mods were an Injen cai(which is currently being used for my EP, except in sri mode since the curve is different), Mugen header, high flow cat, custom 3" piping exhaust, 550 injectors(which is also being used on the EP), and an upgraded/smaller pulley(3.1, which is also on the EP)

So the car made 245whp and 215wtq which is about right for this setup. I ran a very similar setup in my tsx and the numbers are about the same. With my Tsx, the only difference was that the entire exhaust setup was mugen while the EP is spoon. Next up for the EP is an ssr header and custom 3" exhaust. Also going to invest in a cai as the shorty is just killing power sucking in all that hot air. I know there's quite a bit more power to be had since after I did the same upgrades to the tsx, after a re-tune the car ended up making 275whp and 210wtq. I'm already optimistic since currently the EP is making a little more torque than the Tsx did with this pretty similar setup. Heck, it's already making more tq than the setup did in my Tsx, even after all the upgrades (215wtq compared to 210wtq in Tsx with upgrades). Will update as they become available.

For comparison, here's my dyno chart for my Tsx when it was running the mugen setup.

Whp and wtq is already at an advantage with the EP and similar setup.

I used the upgraded CT auto tensioner. Their old static tensioner are crap as two ended up cracking on me when I had the setup in my tsx. Luckily Nate was cool enough to give me a price break on the auto tensioner when they were released.
