Check your shifter linkage. Open your center console to access the shifter and look for a linkage not attached to the shifter. The linkage are the white piece in this picture:

You might have loose a "clamp" like this one :

Had the same thing happen on my last car after a failed install of a shirtshifter because off wrong part.

If everything looks okay, check at the bushing on the transmission under your hood if something had pop out. If everything looks fine, well I dunno what to say :P

There's a lot of play in the shifters of our car. I put in the corsport bushings, but I'm not sure how much of a dif I noticed.

pop the console like in the picture and check to see if everything is secure. Also reach in a little or look in with a light to see if the black plastic things that hold the cable to the shifter assy is in tact. I had mine break and it caused problems.

We do have some play but if what he's trying to say is the same thing as I had on my last car, while I was in 1st I could move the shifter horizontally to the 5th gear but still be in first... Was kinda weird to shift gears like this haha

EDIT: well I just had a look at my OEM shifter laying in my closet and even without cable attached it is stiff/hard to move horizontally so your problem might be the shifter itself... Time to find a BCSS! :D

if you find someone who still has BCSS in stock let me know!
