Hey should i trade my ep tranny for an rsx type s tranny with same amount miles plus cash? Benefits/ downsides? Let me know what you think! As you can tell im very undecisive on my car, sometimes i want clean and other times i just want a monster

All I can think of are benefits. I'll throw in the 6th gear option.

Be careful that you're not getting his toasted tranny. They are known to have sychro problems especially 2nd gear. I would have bought an RSX-S before my ep had I found one with a decent tranny. The 3 I looked at all had problems. If it's in good shape I'd jump on it! A real close ratio box would be a huge improvement over our 5 speed.

I think they improved the synchros on the later years models.

if your planning on staying all motor get the 6 speed.. but if your thinking of turbo stay with the 5.

that 6th gear is the same as our original 5th gear, y bother? y not add TSX's 6th gear in our stock tranny instead?

But with shop and everything is it worth it? i like the tsx 6th gear idea but i feel like that would just be a huge pain in the ass

DC5S 6speed if you plan on staying all motor.

The TSX 6th gear install is actually fairly simple. once you have it open its fairly straight forward. Most transmission shops won't do it for you though bc it's 'custom'. You can easily do it yourself with all the references available to you here, k20a and the EOC. the only tool you might not have readily available is a shop press. you can buy one from harbor freight for ~$100.

There is a big difference between a sixth gear "overdrive" and a close ratio gearbox. Two different animals...
