I've found a bunch of tires in 205/55 that I like, but what about the stock size? I'm not concerned with treadwear, just performance and wet traction... Any suggestions?

i just ordered the yokes es100's, they aren't the stickiest tire by far, but we are so limited in tires with this size, damn tire industry sucks when it comes to our cars. But I really like the yoke es100 spec. , should be plenty good for me, should work good on the street and occassional track day. Nothing else comes close in this tire size. One thing that most people don't realize, is the contact patch with the yokes will be better than our stock tire despite the same size rating, so added performance right there.

isn't the ES100 more of a budget middle of the road tire?

Don't let the price fool you. They're probably a tad less sticky as S-03's and definitely not like Azenis but they perform much better then Kumhos or Nittos. Probably the stickiest NA available Yoko tire after the AVS Sports.

Where and how much can you purchase these Yoko's for?? I am in desperate need of new tires. So these do perform better then Kumho???

I got them from tire rack for $68 each, plus shipping, 195/60-15, the larger size may be a few more bucks. Discount tire had them for $81 shipping included, but I live in Canada so that didn't apply to me, so I went with tire rack. My first choice was going to be the khumo 712's but Ive been hearing good things about the yokes, a more modern design, reported to be better than the 712's.

will a wider tire give u better traction? for example.. would 205/55 have better grip then 195/60? cuz they give u pretty simliar diameter.

205/55 will definitely handle better because of the wider profile, and smaller sidewall compared to stock size, but you do end up with a smaller overall diameter by about 10mm. The think the yokes es100s are not available in that size, but othe tires are.
