View Full Version : what parts would YOU want made out of carbon fiber?

So just as the title states, i am looking at manufacturing carbon fiber parts for ANY vehicle, including the 7th gen. Ideas so far are carbon fiber window visors, side mirror covers and just about anything else that one could think of. All the material being used is Aerospace grade material that was sold to a company that a friend of mine owns. The parts would be aerospace grade quality at very low costs because of back door deals like the one i have with him.

So, any requests, ideas, all will be absolutely appreciated.

i sure wish a carbon fiber car was possible, but we will be starting out with smaller items such as visors & spark plug covers, but just so you guys know you will be the first to try them out AT COST ofcourse

may take a bit to get it started but we are all getting together friday to drink a few beers and go over our plans, hopefully we can start making our molds of all these items soon!

goodyear makes tires that have cf reinforced sidewalls. so problem solved. lol.. umm i'd like to see visors and spark pluc covers as well. maybe even the manifold cover as well.. i'd love to have a cf pen..

I'm down for engine bay carbon accessories~
cooling plate
spark plug cover
other little toys.
Maybe a rear mirror cover like the Mugen one but for the 02-03

I agree. I've been thinking about just doing vinyl but it'd be nice to have actual cf dash inserts.

battery hold down would be neat..wrap a piece of steel in the middle or something..but yeah different.

what about an intake duct like the mugen one..for ctr bumpers and for usdm bumpers.. i would definetly be down for one of those. i was going to start making one for mysetup. but its going to be out of sheet metal

Replacement CF piece for the sun roof glass. Something that can just be bolted in and go, with the rubber installed around the edge like the factory glass.

Sounds like a kit that could be quite popular for those trying to shave 40-50 pounds. Its something i will look into. Thanks for your input!

Battery tie down is something i have been hearing from quite a few people and is definitely something i will look into. The door pulls or handles, thats something i will being looking into as well. Thanks.

if you did a sun roof that was a 2 piece..with a rubber seal in the middle..the bottom piece bolts onto the top piece..except the bottom piece is inside the car and the outside piece with the rubber gasket is on the top outside of teh car...have like 8 bolts that go around the perimeter. and the bottom piece screws into the top piece...creates a nice seal, not as permanent but still air right etc. sick idea from me..im drawing something up and ill show you. give me a few.

Alright, so my question. Does the cf use a compression seal pressing on the roof or does it actually fit into the the spot where the sunroof glass occupies when at static position?

I would love to have a CF moon-roof, THEY DO MAKE IT FOR THE RSX, but not the ep, i GUESS WERE ARE NOT "COOL" enough.

for purely selfish reasons, I'd love a hood and hatch for an 88-91 civic wagon. no one makes a hatch, and the only hoods are $700 plus freight.

That is a good question. I was thinking merely about the bling factor, having a cf moonroof that I could open/close with the factory acuator. Now that I think about it though, I never use my moon roof so ImportCustomX's idea would be better because it would give me more headroom (6'2) and save on weight thats above center of mass.

Absolutely agree, nothing is more appealing to me than to have something that is an aftermarket part that functions as if it came from the factory. I will take a closer look at both options, the stationary as well as the functioning version.

that can be left up to you, whichever is cheaper and more effective but yeah the compression seal was the idea i was going with.

Rear seat delete w/ Rear cargo trunk liner (where the plywood/carpet covers the spare)
But made of two pieces that you can use bumper clips or interior clips to connect that meet where the rear strut tower bar/rear mid bar is, and clips into where the bottom piece of the back seats connect near the front.
I think it'd look hot.

just a little update guys, since there are many vehicles we are making carbon fiber parts for there may be a bit before we can get to the ep3 market

he is a em2 fan so currently our first project is a set of window visors for the 01-05 civic coupe, which will come in dry carbon fiber and also resin coated

also my business partner just got done with this bad boy, someone asked him to make it

http://i52.tinypic.com/ohomc1.jpg

A chevy 350 carbon fiber oil pan with a nickel coated inside. As soon as he is done with that, the 01-05 2dr em2 window visors go into production in small numbers. Anyone interested can pm me and i will let you know when they are actually finished to my standards, and ready to be shipped.

I want door panels :mtongue: . Roof would be amazing, but I'm not sure how feasible that would be O_o
