Hey everyone I'm new to this forum but certainly not new to forums. I wanted to know if an ep3 trans was going to grind, how can I provoke it? I am interested in trading my 07 civic for an ep3 because I have always liked them so much, but I know they have trans problems. I wanted to know if there was any way to provoke this if I'm test driving an ep3. Please no stupid answers like don't use the clutch or anything. Thanks everyone.

Shift 2-3 at redline like you normally would while bangin gears.

Unless they've lead a hard or poorly-maintained life, the Ep3 trans should be very smooth.
Some trans. tend to grind when cold, some when fully warmed up, try some high rpm, fast shifts under both conditions...

I'm pretty sure he wasn't kidding. You're just waiting to get trolled when the truth of the matter is that it's that simple... the transmission either grinds or it doesn't, and transmissions start grinding during the most stressful shifts and then become more and more likely to grind under less and less stressful circumstances.

There honestly is nothing you can do if it already grinds. Some people have had a little bit of luck adjusting the pedal and using another fluid. Other than that, overhauling it with new blocking ring assemblies is the only other real solution. I am lucky that mine doesn't grind. I change my trans fluid once a year with a quality fluid to prevent it. Make a search on fluids and you'll quickly find out what seems to work well with the k trans.

if the trans grinds you will know in a 20 min test drive. mine cold would hit gears flawlessly second it got to temp i couldnt hit 1-2 at wot and 2-3 would grind at wot. then at random times dd'n it would lock-out
